VVti Problems

Postby clutchmaster20 » Thu Aug 11, 2011 3:56 pm

Hi.I've recently got a problem with my 3s-ge at vvti range.Just after 4500rpm-5000rpm it stutters for a bit then the power kicks in again after 5000rpm.It revs smoothly all the way up to 4500rpm in every gear then it hesitates for 500rpm after then the power kicks back in after 5000rpm.I am not clued up on how the electrics work.I was wondering if any one could help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your MAF sensor, It may need to be cleaned or even a new one :?

Cheers mate.I have just checked my plugs aswell and cyl 1+2 and they have oily deposits on them but no massive signs of oil being burnt so i don't think its the rings. It did get better but it still stutters a lil bit at the same rev range 4500-5000rpm.Any more suggestions?

If you've cleaned the MAF sensor & it didn't fix the problem then it could be time for a new one. Did you clean the throttle body out while you where at it?

Thanks to those who helped. All sorted now.I cleaned the MAF sensor and replaced the original intake unit and its working like new again.I believe the cam cover breather was part to blame. All the oil mist from when I had in the blitz induction kit soaked the plugs and was causing premature ignition at that point.Thats what I believe.Lol.Any more ideas welcomed.

Was probably more like the oil from the induction kit made the maf oily and dirty not allowing it to give correct readings.
