ok bit of an update on the car as it's been a while

I think it was back in august I picked some new discs pads and some HEL braided brake lines and I'm only half way through fitting them on, I had been using a ramp at the local garage where my GF's brother works and we got all the fronts on but ran out of time to do the backs, and the front disc's took a bit of a beating to get off, (the big hammer came out). We said when we next had a bit of time we would sort the backs out, needless to say there still sitting all boxed up at the garage as the ramps never free when I am but fingers crossed It'll be done soon(ish)

anyway a few pics of the fronts be fitted

As most people know with modded cars something will go wrong or may require changing or tweaking at somepoint

Mine has been the bolts coming loose on the wastegate mainly on the exit side of things which was the better of the 2 but just blows when the wastegate opens sounding horrible,

So when I had a bit of time after work 1 day I decided to have a good inspection of the exhaust side of things as the car had developed a rattle defo something loose

on 1st glance I noticed that 1 of the bolts holding the heat sheld had came out, and with a big turbo in the way this was not easy to replace, but an hour later with a bolt tacked onto a small bit of welding rod I managed to get the bloody thing in and done up tight, rattle solve....No!!!! gggrrrrrrrrrrrr

so 1 friday afternoon at work the car was jacked up and some inspection done to find out all the bolts were missing from the exit pipe on the wastegate......thats whats making all the noise. A few weeks past as new gaskets were coming from japan and other parts where collected then the plan was 1 weekend fix it. Got all the parts together ready to do the job, then ...............cold and snow!!!! ggrrrrrrrrrrrr

so finaly last weekend I started the job of replacing the gaskets and bolts.

Jacked the car up an put on stands, removed braces, removed exhaust system (not easy on your own), downpipe removed so I could get to wastegate, tightened up all bolts I could get to and tapped hole out in back of turbo and wastegate to make sure bolts went in fully, fitted new gasket and part of the wastegate exhaust piping, modified wastegate exit pipe so it had a flexible exhaust fitting to help remove any stress as the was a slight misalignment ( required several tweakes and test fitting before I was 100% happy ) tack weld in place remove downpipe and fully weld.

I haven't quite got the car back together yet, I plan on fitting a big 3inch flexi into the main system to help as well this week if the part turn up at work in time.

Also a bit of engine rebuild porn,
I've uploaded a load of pics so if you wanna have a look click the link http://img59.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=post601201704056.jpg there not in any order sorry

oh ok thanks Robin...

do you happen to have the diagram for this cluster?

i want to know the pin out for the oil temp as the is300's did not have this feature, instead we where stuck with the Miles per gallon.

Right latest up date

Spent the last few months collecting things as I need to get a few things done. Mainly a bit of a service oil and filter change and change the brake fluid so got a bit of time off at the start of may so hopefully get her up on the ramp and done, and fit rear disc/pads and HEL brakelines

My latest little project has been a motorizes gauge holder. I got myself an old satnav housing for £40 (been looking for a while and found 1 on the LOC) I asked the guy did it still work " yeah there's just no screen" nice just what I was looking for :D when it turned up all the wires had been cut and hanging out ( must of been in his shed as a few parts looked a bit rusty. Anyway gave it a bit of a clean up and checked the switches and motor still worked which it did.

Image

I've also got myself a pair of Depo racing 4-1 combination gauges
A Boost gauge with digital read out OIl pressure and Oil temp and battery voltage and the othe 1 is a EGT gauge with a digital read out for a temp and a pressure so planning on doing the water temp and fuel pressure maybe

Image

Image

I knocked up a simple mounting plate to get some ideas, I also had to get some 12v relays so that I could make the housing work.

Just getting a few ideas
Image

I'm having to fit gauges so that the fronts sit flush with the plate so that it will still open and close I need to make up some sort of a gauge holder and plans are under way but i'll up date that bit later.

heres some pics of the relays fitted in place and all soldered up ( Not the neatest job  but it was late on saturday when I decided to do this sat on the floor  )

Image

more to come later in the week fingers crossed :)

a few more pics

front view with 60mm gauges test fitted, front plate will be sprayed satin black along with the small plastic gauge holders I made to locate the gauges.

Image

view inside, still need to make a bracket to hold the gauges in place. I also had to file out a bit of the screen surround to fit the gauge holders in place. I've also drilled to holes in the front for studs to go through so it can be bolted in place
