standard altezzas

Postby nivek » Wed Jun 16, 2010 2:13 pm

put a standard ecu in to my altezza instead of my toms t.e.c. ii ecu.
god there an awfull slow car with standard ecu. must of lost 20 bhp with standard ecu. a good vti civic wood make sugar of standard alltezzas.
stupid toyota..

i also blew the cat apart in the exhaust 2 days ago. and it was only in the car 5 months. altezzas take no abuse.

cant agree. Exit a roundabout (40ish km) behind a civic and at 80km you'll gain on them big time, over 100km the civic hasnt a chance. Thats my experience with them anyway

Did you have the altezza on a dyno with the Tom's ecu :?: Would be interesting what kind of power difference there really was between Standard and Toms :? :?

I dont agree either, they do take abuse (within reason) - but if they were diesel they'd de indestructable!

My cars been in the country for nearly 6 years now and still have the same cat - in the shed gathering dust waiting for the next nct

Was it a genuine cat or a weld in one?

They are dead on the road without a decat though, its mental how much difference that makes

From a standstill the civic will be ahead but once you get over 5000rpm and from a rolling start you'll give a standard type r a good run for its money bearing in mind the power to weight ratio: Altezza 156bhp/tonne - EK9 Type R 166bhp/tonne (using factory figures for bhp & weight)

dont agree my self wit this obviously will be a loss wit a standard ecu but if u have other mods u should have no problems i have stainless 4 branch down pipes de cat and back box and took a vti on motor way from a standing start he had me in first but cought him in second and left him in third :D :D cars are heavy but still have power not bad for a n/a car in all fairness :D
There should be two penalty points for cars that dont go sideways............

Considering it's just a pipe with two flanges on either end, I woudn't be buying a branded one (says he with the Sard  ). Just find an exhaust place that will do a custom pipe replacement and you should get it a lot cheaper.
I've heard of places offering to make one from the old flanges, i.e. cut up the existing cat, for cheap. The problem with that is it won't be possible to bolt back on the cat come NCT time and you'll be likely to fail the emissions test.

I've heard of people getting stuff made by these guys, not sure how much it would be though:
