Centre pipe/cat replacement

Postby Rob » Mon Nov 24, 2008 10:05 pm

I took some more pics when putting the factory cat back in, pre-NCT. It's a relatively straightforward job when you raise the front-right of the car enough to reach the forward joint.

Exhaust components get HOT, let it cool down first!

Spray penetrating oil on the bolts holding the sections together - the exhaust has a tendancy to swing around on the rubber mounts.
This is the rear joint, looking forward:

This is the front joint, with the bolts removed:

There is a single rubber mount on the middle section, it helps if you have some spray grease to loosen it up before trying to slide it off.

Here's the rear joint and rubber mount detatched:

I found the easiest way of re-assembling it was to attach the rear joint loosely, lift and replace the middle mount, then bolt together the front joint. I found it's harder to get it on the rubber mount if you attach the front joint first.

As before, I'm not repsonsible if you cause any damage doing the above!
