Timing belt breakage HELP

Postby ronansxe10 » Wed Jul 13, 2016 11:57 pm

So I was diffing and I was on the rev limiter for a long time and car just knocked off and belt was shredded. Put a new belt on to see if valves were bent and engine wouldn't start no compression. So I know valves are bent anyone this experience before? Just want to know extent of what damage could be done eg valves pistons etc.. Reply please thanks!

Hi,

Happened to me years back :(

I'm afraid you need to start looking for a replacement engine, I spent more repairing mine than a secondhand would have cost and it took ages between ordering all the parts and my mechanic finding enough time to work on it...

Even after it was all fixed properly, a few months later another part broke internally and it was f*** again...

Hard luck

i hate to agree, but id look for a new engine as well. valves can be pricey, and machine work can be pricey too. figure $300 minimum on valves, (replace them all, i know from experience lol) a new timing belt kit with tensioners and idlers $250-300 and since your in there a new waterpump would be a best investment as well so add another $200. oh and if you have my luck lift the head and see the oil pan through a piston....... well you know the answer to that madness. pull the head and check damage, if you have the time to do it. that will be your decision maker

Ya that's true I would be sending the head off to be done but thing is a good engine if very hard to get these days at least I know my valves with be perfect and so will my head am I right? If pistons are would it not be better to know what you have up top with new parts? :/

If your valves are bent chances are you damaged the piston and bent the rods too. You'll have to strip it fully and get someone that knows engines so have a look
Engines can be got at jdmdistro or elite autos €900 is the going rate

The pistons and rods are sound it's just the 8 exhaust valves that bent. Head is going away for new valves and to get skimmed and pressure tested. Just checking where I can get valves incase they can't get them. I'm from ireland
