possible to put auto head on manual block?

Postby tais300 » Wed Feb 24, 2016 6:20 am

Ok so i have a manual engine and just scored and auto head for dirt cheap from a friend. Building a boosted engine, so steel.valves and stiffer springs from what ive read. Questions, will everything off the manual engine swap over ie intake manifold, exhaust manifold, oil drain tube, water outlets? Thanks in advance

I presume you can probably change them over but the manual head is the better one and you will see a drop in hp going over to the auto head. Manual has extra 10hp in book values because of
"larger diameter titanium intake valves measuring 35mm, larger exhaust valves measuring 29.5mm also made from titanium, a larger 33mm bucket and a compression ratio of 11.5:1."

Thanks rstomhundred for the reply, although celicara45, glenn, confirmed what i need it for. Boosting is not good for titanium valves high heat leads to brittle parts and the auto head has stainless valves. Im going to have cams hardwelded to match the toda 268/264 vvti operable cams. the lift can make serious power up high. Ive seen many mr2 3sgte turn 8500rpm on 268/264 setups with 10.8mm lift. Glenn, do you make anything for the auto head? Id rather support another (the best) beams guru than pay somebody else. Shoot me a pm if you do.

Sorry mate - completely missed the bit you said about boosting it and the reasons for the auto head with different valves! LOL
