altezza brakes abs ?

Postby Jap_J » Wed Jul 30, 2014 7:49 pm

ok so bought a tezza not so long long story short brake don't work too good..when you press the brake pedal down you have to have it 90% of the way pressed for brakes to kick in (fronts)..rear brakes do not work..i was given rear calipers with the car and installed them but I still have the same story..my mechanic said he thinks the abs unit pump up beside the drivers side near the firewall is broke or needs replace ..he said everything else is getting fluid but when it reaches the pump then nothing...what I want to know is do I just replace this and will that fix it ..OR... I have a feeling the fella I bought car off may have disconnected the the rear brakes in order to peel the rear tyres off better 8) ...may it just be a simpler issue?

i'd have thought if it was a relay issue then your abs light would come on no?

Pretty sure abs doesn't affect the normal operation of your brakes anyway. I'd be checking the brake lines for crimps, that the brake booster is working/vacuum line attached, or that the pistons aren't seized. Other than that take it to a brake specialist.
