Haven't been on here in a while. Time for an update. Copy & paste obviously
The day that killed the clutch again.
Anyway. Back onto the actual 'build' part.... The springs finally arrived
So yesterday I got some time to fit them
20kg on the front, and 12 kg on the rear (^_^)
Took them out for a test drive. Ooooh boy! Love them! Its like... running your coilovers on full stiffness, but without the harshness.... if that makes sense?! Hardly any rubbing as well on the front now. Awesome purchase.
Same cant be said for the rear, I'm afraid. The 12kgs feel like jelly and crap wank s@3!. Why do they even supply springs like that on 'high spec' coilovers, I will never understand? Will be swapping them out for some 16kg ones as soon as I can spare some cash.
Forgot to say that I've made a few changes to the interior as well. Got a Bride recliner, thanks to Mint. Also some unbranded 'made in Japan' wheel that was pretty damn cheap.
Quite like this photo. So much extra lock compared to last year!
So, as usual, the whole weekend was spent fannying around with the car.
Since my clutch started to slip and turned gammy after the last drift day, I decided it was time for a swap.
I had zero luck to get a clutch in the time frame available in UK. No one seems to have it, and the next expected delivery to UK is in July. That would have been cutting it too fine before Finalboss.
Twiglett helped out massively by sending me a clutch disk that he had. Thanks a lot man :wack:
Pulled the clutch out in under an hour, with great ease....Love toyotas.
Its definitely seen better days, ideally wanted a new pressure plate and flywheel....But I guess this will have to do for now. Turned out to be a Helix clutch.
Moment of truth..... Twigletts clutch has 1mm more meat on it, so its definitely an improvement. Also its the same diameter.
Yeaaaaaa, that s@3! is going right back in there!!!!!
Got everything bolted back up......It bites.....It works....It does skids....It doesnt slip.... Mission accomplished!!!
Noticed it getting more aggressive as the day went on and I am happy with the result.
Next up, decided to spray the wheel fluorescent green
But only the inside of the barrel
Also finished off the lights
Not everything went smoothly though..... Went to order BN Sports, and due to some minor problems, I do not think I will get it as fast as I had hoped. So ill just have to wait a little bit longer for my cheat lows.
Went for a nice relaxed drive on Friday night. Couldnt see anything though.
Ordered some 16kg springs for the rear after noticing how much the rear suspension travels. Gammy gammy gammy 12k's
So I went to fit the 16k springs last night.
While I was there, I decided to roll the arches since the rim kept hitting it and making unpleasant loud bangs. :smash:
They were so easy to roll that I overdid it slightly even without a heat gun. Sooooo because ive rolled them, ive lost all my poke
So I fitted a 5mm slip on to bring them out slightly and now its hitting the lip again. Fail! Getting the angle grinder out tonight and shaving that bastard lip off.
While I was messing about with the height, thought it would be interesting to see how low the coilovers could go. Went so low, i couldn't get the jack out from the under towing eye :wack:
I settled for something more subframe friendly.
I am actually confident in saying that my car is ready to do boss skids. Just a quick oil change to do, and its good to go
In other news, I took the angle grinder to the inside lip on the rear arches >_<
Did the job.....kinda. Arch became a little bit floppy. But thats almost a good thing. Now when the rim tucks, instead of a massive bang it just brushes against the lip and moves it out of the way, haha.
That of course allowed me to lower the back a little bit more
Also my car does not want to boost past 0.48bar. Tried to get to the bottom of it. Im running a HKS EVC 6 boost controller and apparently a lot of people had the same problem where its not hitting target boost.
Apparently something to do with wastegate initial setup. If the controller does not see a certain boost pressure, it will not activate and therefore will never reach target boost no matter how much you turn it up by. Will set it up again properly tonight, see how well that goes.
Suspension has finally settled to the 'right' height
