18'' Wheels with a lowered car?

Postby JordanCoupe » Mon Aug 26, 2013 3:23 pm

My altezza is lowered on hsd coilovers and fitted with 18'' Lenzo d1s and I believe the offset is 25P / 40P. Now my problem is that the wheels catch the front arch liners like mad at any sort of lock to the point theat half the liners are gone. I have 225 tires fitted at the minute.

What would people recommend to fix the scrubbing issue? Ideally I don't want to raise the car up because height wise its perfect as is

Any pictures? Need more info. Rim width, tyre profile? But if you want a short & quick answer, remove liner, underseal and roll the arches.

Ive been considering taking the liners out all together and undersealing and stone chipping all the exposed metal behind them, bar the stones pinging off the metal is there any other drawbacks to this, dust/dirt getting at filters etc?

the tires on the front are 225-40-18 and the wheels are 8'' wide all round

raise the front slightly would be free and easy as you got coilovers or firm up the dampers

the two wings are cracked on the tezza anyway leave it the way it itl be grand, when ever you go getting a bummper or something painted get clean wings for it.. pull out the liners but keep the door side of them in it to stop in round your door filling with muck, thats what i done on my yellow one and that was decked..

well with 8j wheels i would probably look at getting 215 tires! i have 8j front wheels with a plus 35 offset and running 215 with no issues. mine are 17's though but still cant see a major difference

Mine catch ever so slightly on full lock, running 18"x 7.5 with 225/40/18 tyres

I also have 225/40/18's upfront and didn't have any issues even when the car was lowered but it was kinda close after raise it about an inch there's more clearance so the obvious solution would be to raise the front or maybe try some 215/35 or 40

215/35/18 on a 8.5j et30 wheel. Only rubs when im giving it absolute mental abuse on full lock. Other than that, not a single scraping sound.

Arches have been cut out from the front and top. But still kept them at the back section to stop s@3! going in there. Stones and stuff havent bothered me at all, and it happens very rarely.

Its always fun seeing smoke coming from your front arches though

there is an easy way round this. pop rivet a 3mm ally plate to where it is rubbing. the tyre wont wear the ally.....problem solved

As low as you want, you can 'make' anything fit. You just need to do the appropriate work to make them fit/have the funds to get the work done.
