Apexi Power FC

Postby Dan » Mon Jul 23, 2007 8:49 pm

Anybody how much power could be gained from just upgrading the ECU to a Power FC or something similar? Would it cause any reliability issues

Whats the cheapest place i can pick one up? and what should i expect to pay to get it tuned in?

There about €500 from nengun for the ECU alone. Worth paying for a good mapper to get the most out of it. good mappers are not cheap

also think it was said before you could get an extra 20 to 30bhp out of a standard car. Sounds good to me

Ye as said they're a little over €500 delivered from Nengun...

Martin Tracey will do it for €250 or else go up to East Coast Customs & it'll be small bit more but better map ;)

An Apexi Neo is simply an AFC (Air-Fuel Controller) with a few flashy add ons, so it'll only control your fueling. It's a piggy back to your ecu & can also only store one map at a time

On the other had a Power FC is a complete standalone ECU which (with Hand Commander) will give you full read outs of every sensor on the car including important ones like knock etc. Being a full ECU it can also adjust your ignition timing along with fueling & can store up to 4 full maps, allowing you to switch manually depending on your driving or fuel you've put in the car...

Hope this helps a little ;)

But does the Power FC also remove the speed limiter?

Expect 30-40hp increase with a Power FC and mapping.

I have Dyno figures to prove it on a pretty stock n/a engine

Thats a big increase for what is not alot of money. You would spent that on a good manifold and other small mods that wont give you anything like that increase.
Makes you realise about Toyota mapping them for safety and fuel efficiency over full performance.

I'm definatly doing the lotto tonight

think ill be on for doing this, just hope i can use it together with by bio fuel kit! Get it mapped to run on 104 Ron, now that would be nice!!

Mr Singh: to install the ECU is it just a case of swapping on ECU for the other: ie plug and play or is there any ecu wiring that needs to be done?
And when u say pretty stock engine, what was done at the time?

Ye, Power FCs are basically plug & play. They're car specific so block connectors are identical to the ones on your standard ecu. You just unplug the old, plug in the new + carry out the start up procedure. Only extra wiring is running the cable for the Hand Commander into the cockpit ;)
