I'm strongly thinking about changing back from my Blitz induction to the standard airbox with an Apexi filter or something like that.
Everyone seems to say that the standard setup is better than the induction kit so any thoughts opinions would be appreciated. Has anyone gone back from the induction kit to the standard box and if so what did you think?

When I was NA I went from an HKS Super Ram Intake back to a panel filter with the stock air box, even got dyno proof that the stock system was better (by 1.7KW @ RW!)
Do it IMO!

Our dyno day was proof, standard setup was best, I wasnt far off brians result with not nearly as many mods with a standard airbox and a sports cat, he had an induction kit, 4branch, light f/wheel, sports cat of some kind i think. As much as i hate to admit it, hes guna do a hell of a lot better than me in september with the standard air box fitted (and of course the decat)

I love the sound of your car ross. The air filter sounds cool but your better off with the normal system and an apexi panel filter

cars are alot more drivably with the standard airbox, like slowing down near a roundabout in second gear and the car would nearly cut out when you acclerate again where with the airbox its more refined and you dont need to be changing gears all the time in town. Didnt notice any real difference in power though? yeah lanigan I know

I'll give it a go anyway and see what happens. Where's the best(easiest for me) place to get a filter??

ye i went from standard airbox with standard filter, to apexi power intake with Apexi aluminium induction box to standard airbox with apexi panel filter, with the last being the best in my opinion(made 217bhp with this setup), most cars standard induction systems is good enough up until 300bhp+ only if your going turbo do u need to consider a CAI intake . when i go to stage 2 i might go for a CAI and get car mapped for it

ive had altezza's with both and i have to say, standard with an apexi is the better option, i founfd the induction kit had the car extremely sluggish and found a much better response with the standard airbox

If you cant get a standard airbox surely getting a cold air box with an apexi kit and a neo would surely help the problem?

I'm not saying it'd be better than the standard airbox but seeing as they're so rare it would surely be nearly as good! Most induction kits just sit there without any airbox or airfeed so they're obviously not going to be as good

Most induction kits just sit there without any airbox or airfeed so they're obviously not going to be as good I see what you're saying and agree with you richie. The problem with induction kits on most cars is they need to be set up properly, Apexi (according to Nick Lim) state on the packaging that installing an induction kit without the addition of an Apexi neo or some form of AFC can lead to up to a 5% loss in power/performance of the engine Only problem is to buy, install and map a Neo, he you charges 500quid, plus the 160euro for the filter, so for the sake of 660euro i think i'd prefer to keep that extra 600 in my pocket and buy the apexi drop in filter for the standard air box
