Hi, im looking at buying an engine.
its got no plastic fairing on so its missing the 'G' number off the front. how can i tell if it came from an auto or manual.
theres nothing obvious like a flywheel or torque converter fitted.
its just a bare engine, so im thinking it might be down to an engine number if anyones knows them?

cheers

look under the exhaust manifold,, manual has a heat exchanger and the auto has a plug only ,also the stainless water pipes will have plugs on them .1 behind the water pump on the block and also on the stainless water pipe ,where the water hose normaly goes to the heat exchanger on the manual ,
only other way is take the alloy rocker cover off and see if the inlet cam has its 6th bearing cap at the back
