TRD Clutch Friction Plate

Postby RS Tom-Hundred » Sat Apr 04, 2015 1:46 am

Quick question please? :)

When I took the engine out and split the gearbox from it, to take the engine apart, the clutch assembly is about the only bit I didn't take photos of!

I've got a lightened flywheel and then a TRD clutch (friction and cover plate). My question is: which way round does the friction plate go in please? Does the side with the TRD stamped on it (and less of the splined boss poking out) go towards the flywheel side or the gearbox side?

Cheers :)

Thanks for the reply :)

Doesn't seem to say which is which side unfortunately.

Or do you mean the side with TRD written on goes to a specific side? Cheers :)

I cant really remember the wording. I think it written "T/M side" means that side face the transmission.

The side where the centre pokes out faces the engine

Cheers GTEC :) I worked it out when it came to doing it as I had marked an "F" on flywheel side but it seemed wrong as thought that more of the splined centre bit might go to gearbox side! When I had it on the bench, it could go either way round but when flywheel was on engine and bolts were in it could only go one way.

Like you say, the centre splined bit goes towards engine and the side where the springs and plate stick out go towards the gearbox :) So my markings were right after all!
