Tiptronic problems

Postby initial_j » Mon Feb 23, 2015 10:34 am

Just picked up a tiptronic altezza (3sge)

Quite a few problems
Tiptronic mode doesnt work, press steering wheels buttons nothing happens
Pwr mode doesn't work
It won't kick down when you stamp on it
Changes up very low down in the Rev range

You can However select gears 2/3 using the stick and it will Rev to the redline and go as fast as it should.

When coming to a stop the idle is rough and shakey.

No ecu light on but I'm a bit suspect the cluster has been tampered with as the odometer doesn't go up.

Is it possible to bridge two pins on the diagnostic port and make the lights flash for engine codes? If so which pins?

I have a whole car of spares to try but want to know where to start to save wasting time!

Now you have got the bulb working, this is the procedure for reading codes:

I'll dig out the page with the codes and descriptions on tomorrow.

Hope that helps :-)

Took me a bit of digging but found the thread again:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=57&p=113065&hilit=3SGE+wiring#p113065

This is the link you want (under 3SGE Engine Wiring in one of the posts further down the page where he corrected the dead links)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/b76s3hc5jx4u8 ... Engine.pdf

Check the back of the document and the number in the square brackets in the first column (under the P---- Toyota number) relates to the number of flashes :)

Check ABS sensors/wiring. Usually AT gives such problems when it doesn't see speed signal.
