need some help tezz running poor

Postby m_0_m_0 » Thu Nov 29, 2012 11:41 pm

evenin all,

need some advice, today my tezz started running like a tractor. first noticed it after i planted my foot on it, it suddenly sounded a bit rough, got a hks hi power on it so it sounded a little like a scooby but running like a tractor, when on idle its shaking a little and when am driving it feels rough and i can feel the vibration. engine sounds normal on idle and revs at moment seem ok.

last service about 200 miles ago, oil and filters changed, running denso iridiums. maf was also cleaned and throttle body was pretty much spotless on the last service. ive noticed a ticking noise which corresponds with revs.

goin to chage plugs tomorro and see what this does but any ideas??coulnt take the maf senso out on lkast service as it seems as the screws were jammed so i cleaned it via taking the pipe its connected out from throttle boddle and air box out and doin it that way.

its not mis firing and engine management light is not on if that helps at all

should i still drive it???

i hope its nothing major as i cant afford much but any pointers welcome, this weekend gonna be fun

thnks

mo

Could be either of 3 things and will not always how fault code.

Bad coil.

Bad plug.

Dirty maf, cleaning it the way you have described probably made it worse as you need to clean the little sensors down the channel.

My bet is a bad coil.

thanks guys

didnt wanna risk takin it to work today so pulled out the coil packs and the 3rd one up from the cam belt is oily and the top of the plug was broken..... any ideas???

why would there be oil just in this plug and how can i fix it, i've ordered some new plugs and a rocker cover gasket but would there be any other reason for one plug having oil leaking into it.

explains the burble yesterday.

thanks in advance

The inner rocker cover gasket is shot, that's why you have oil on your coilpack. You'll have to change that one too...

right, changed the coil pack and the cars running\idling a lot better, have another issue now though, its hesistant to pull, it was before it went not sure if the coil pack i have would cause this or if the throttle body is dirty. its like it wants to pull but being held back, it flutters and then the power comes through but like a lag time before its delivered.....

yeah maf is clean was spotless when i took it out from what i could see, ecu i am assuming was reset when i did plugs and rocker cover as i disconnected the battery for the 4hours i was working on the car, in all honesty yesterdau evening it seems to start running a lot better, no hesitation before the pull now am not sure what it was\is but its not doing it anymore.

It would have been running funny because you reset the ECU, it has to relearn everything so it will take a while to run smooth again after doing this.
