TezzaWorld Charity Cruise - Temple Street Childrens Hospital

Postby lanigan » Sat May 16, 2009 2:41 pm

I read about a charity cruise that was held up in Drogheda (i think) recently and was thinking that maybe we could do something similar.

Saw an article there recently that theyre are more cut backs being made at Temple Street Childrens hosital and think this would be, as it always is, an extremely deserving cause.

I'm thinking that this, more than any other tezzaworld event, should encourage members to turn out in force. I know only a handfull of members actually have kids at the minute but i'm sure most will have in the future and will at some point know of a child who has been treated at the hospital for various reasons.

Im just posting this to gauge interest in the event and to see if anybody has any ideas for it. We can go from there

My thoughts on it:
Date: mid July (will hopefully be sunny then)
Car entry fee: €40 (to be paid prior to sponsorship cards being issued)
Sponsorship cards issued to all drivers (possibly set a target, depending on what will be occurring on the day(s))
Route to be decided (maybe a two day event)
Finishing point ideally should be located near or in Dublin where maybe some kids and staff could attend for a hand over of the money raised
Garda involvment if we are expecting a good turn out (to close junctions etc for the convoy to remain together)
Magazine/newspaper coverage maybe if its big enough

Oh and most importantly NO MESSING

Heres a link to the fundraising site for the hospital:

sounds good but i dont think enough tezzaworld members will do it (hard enough to get 20 to do anything) so maybe it should be open to others like toci or twin cams???

I agree, if you are trying to collect for charity you want the largest possible attendance. It would probably be better to run it in associations with other clubs.

Ya I will do this, used to do it before with the bikes but wasnt involved with the organisation of it just attented, but if you need help Chris just shout...But I agree with the guys think we will need to join with another site for a bit of support
Any maybe for health and safety reasons no to have the drive that long maybe athlone to dublin pick one or two point on the way for collections, pick a hotel and notify there local radio station and garda station as to whats were doing. I think the harley davidson crowd did this maybe wouldnt be a bad idea getting in contact with them to see what they would suggest.

Yeah i agree about joining up with another site, we all know how useless we are at getting decent turnouts

Maybe manic and TOCI?

or ADC like podgie said, im not on that one so if it was to go ahead will need help (will need it anyway if it does go ahead regardless so Evelyn you can be the joint organiser :D )

Just gauging interest from tezzaworld first

Oh amd one last thing, would look better if we didnt have any s@3! boxes on this so doing it with the likes of streetlegal is out (no offence to anyone on it but the standard of car there (from what ive seen anyway) is shockin )
