IS200/300 Rear Lip Spoiler w/Stop Light

at this stage i'm not looking to the turbo route, but it will defiantly be on the cards in a couple of years ( which will probably turn into months when i get bored )

something to look at...

The All Important First Service

To Stop That Octane Lowering Oil Vapour

Boooiiiinnnnggg

Because I Can, and before the blasted dual mass one fails ( still waiting on the pressure plate )
Image
Image

Also trying to think of somewhere to stick this, without being told off by Nick
Image

And again, the TRD shelf at work got the better of me
Image

well service all done ( Castrol Edge 10w30, interesting for those who are interested ), also i gave the engine bay and interior a bloody good scrub. later on tonight when its not quite has hot i will do the washing thing.

clean clean

good thing i decided to do the fuel filter...
Image

and also to my surprise when i climbed under the car i noticed some " suspension member braces ", then at a closer inspection i discovered that they were TRD ones! very pleased ( two less things i have to buy )
Image
Image

also pondering on where to put the catch can, the only really good spot i can find is above the drivers side rail in the engine bay ( between the inlet and strut tower ). anyone have any suggestions?

also please excuse the rubbish quality photos that will be found in this thread ( all take with my cellphone )

went and got some more acetylene this morning, finished the bracket.
reasonably happy with how the whole thing turned out

trying to resist the temptation to put them in this weekend.....

Image

also due for another oil change ( doing some crazy milage ) and also timing belt time.

Image

going to work is going to make me poor.
another purchase this morning, all thats left is the rear strut brace

Image

well...... i just couldnt help myself.

( see my long term circuit project next door :D )

well, ive recently aquired a fairly HUGE alloy radiator. which also allows me to now run a 1.5bar TRD cap. nothing quite like abit more pressure.

Image

also got some new headlights, which ive decided to paint myself because im too impatient to send them away to get done.

Image

Image

Image

Image

all done, looks faaar better then i ever thought it would. not sure if i'll stick eyelids back on it now though. will be doing to fog lamps next when i need to occupy my time.

well, i've acquired a new diff unit which i will be rebuilding ( new bearings and bolts etc ) and putting a TRD selective diff and TRD 4.556 final drive set into.

LSD in bits to clean+check+re assemble with TRD diff oil

Image

Assembled TRD LSD + Final Drive Set

Image

Couldn't help myself....... might try and find a nice alloy TRD label to stick on it.

Image

i should stop going into work..... i'm going broke, and fast.

Fitted today a Cusco Rear Strut Brace and also a Cusco Air Diversion Plate

Image

Image

Image

Also Picked up a TRD thermostat + Ordered some decent brake pads for the up and coming track day.

Image

Slow progress on the diff, sadly i'm going to have to get a shim made up for the side bearing preload. as i don't fancy waiting 3 weeks ex japan.

if someone has a side bearing shim measuring 2.800mm and wants to part with it let me know!

well the diffs all done and in, and what a HUGE difference. i am super happy with it, have set it to its "medium" setting and the amount of extra grip is phenomenal.

also having the 4.556 has made the car a lot more peppy, doing 3490rpm at 100kmh.

axles had to have 6mm machined off the ends to clear the selective part of the lsd

Image

Image

sticks out like dogs balls

Image

Image

was given a nice little present from nick on thursday morning.... so i had to empty the boot and stick it in during my lunch break before the track day!

Image

one of the issues i had at taupo ( yea ok the only issue ) was over heating the power steering fluid which left a lovely little mess for me to clean up and burnt fluid. so to remedy this i've picked up a calsonic oil cooler off trade me for the grand total of $10.50. its off some sort of nissan ute ( used to be an atf cooler ). in bloody good nick, so pretty pleased. will get some images up of the install later.

Image

Image

well since it was nice and sunny this morning i thought i'd get out and play with the car.

old Power steering fluid cooler, maybe good for the road but going around taupo last weekend i managed to burn the fluid and have it overflow out of the reservoir.

Image

so i've flushed out all the old burnt fluid and install a more efficient cooler

Image

also fitted some SP500 pads in the rear,

so all thats left now is some s/s braided brake lines and some proper brake fluid and im ready to get out on the track again!

right, no more work for me until after the track day, so will be pulling stuff out of the car to save some weight.

got the car weighed on the way home, 1500kgs on the dot. with 1/4 tank

i'll add up everything that comes out as i go...

Driver 91 excluded
Sub 11.2
Toolbox ( not normally in the car was for the weigh in though) 17.3 excluded
Space saver 15
Boot floor trim + standard tools, first aid kit, valet kit 9.3
Misc stuff from boot + incl glove box 5.0
Rear door cards 4.1
Parcel Tray and Rear Pillar Trim 3
Rear Seat 13.5
Rear Seat Belts 1.9
Rear floor mats .8
Rear Speakers .5
Ski Hole Trim 1.8
Hardware for rear .2
Passenger Seat 19
Center Console 1.7
Amp 4.6
Carpet with insulator foam 5.4
Front floor mats + misc trim 2.9
Passenger Door card 2.4

for saving a total of 102.3 making a weight of 1289.4kgs with a 1/4 tank.

according to this site http://www.japanvehicles.com/newcars/toyota/Altezza/main.htm

standard weight should be 1360, i'd imagine that would be dry though.

its quite interesting to see what some of this stuff weighs, quite a few things that i though would be heavy were quite light and visa-versa

superb write up and was great reading what you have been up to, I would love to have more details on what you have done to the front fogs as they work with the dark headlights very well.

Keep the good work up and look forward to more updates.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Re the front fog lights, the process to paint them was the same as the head lights really. just popped them in the oven to soften the sealant, then pulled the lense off - painted the guts of it then threw it all back together.

I used a "satin black", and its quite flat so im happy with that.
