When you say it's cutting out is it running and driving and then cutting out or is it cutting out when it's left tick over?

Speedo aint working but i dont mind that as i'll be getting a racing dash installed when funds pick up! :)
No it never cuts out when running but if left idle shortly after starting it, it'll cut out!! :?

Or maybe spray it white and problem resolved
Nah for real check out ground connections

Haha smart arse!!
Brought it to a auto electrician today and he tested all the wires and said the problem seems to be that the fan is taking all the power when ticking over and thats why it cuts out! So he suggested getting a thermostat or switch installed that cuts out the fan when it doesn't need to be cooling the engine..... :)

That doesn't sound right, maybe the alternator ain't producing enough power :?

I thought it didnt sound right but me and electronics is dodgy anyway!... Someone mentioned that the alternator out of a twin turbo supra matches up to mine so would give it more power...?? :?

When it cuts out is it fully loaded?
Lights on AC on stereo on etc. because if not it definitely has something to do with your charging system.
Take out the alternator and bring it to a shop that rebuilds them and get it tested.

Its only been turned on at night so lights, fogs and dash lights are on...Stereo isn't even wired up nor the a/c ever turned on....when it drives it shows 13.9 - 14volts but when i'm idle it drops to 11.4 and on down until it eventually cuts itself out! :?
I got the alternator tested and was told its working properly so not sure what to do next! :o

it could be a dodgy fan, drawing more power than it needs to run itself. My sister's beemer had the same problem.............fan come on, rpm's drop till it cut out, everything was checked and was working so I swapped the fan with one from a breakers and it's been fine since. Worth a try.... :?

11.4V sounds to low and maybe it's the ecu shutting down.
What raffo said sounds like something I would try also.

I know you said you had it tested but it does sound like an alternator related problem.
Have you got power to the small wire when at idle? This is the exiter wire, if no power to this then the alternator won't charge.

If it really is the fan killing the engine then there must be a problem with the fan, shorted out or something, because even with the lights on the fan shouldn't draw that much power that it stalls the engine.

If you disconnected the fans and left the car running and the car doesn't die this would high light the fans as the problem ??
