So I slowly bolted everything on.

Image

Noticed that the alternator pulley has seen better days :) So thats another problem for future Pete.

Image

Also, the turbo inlet that I got, does not seem to have a pipe where the idle control valve connects to. Its the black pipe that goes around the back of the engine. Anyone know what I should do with it?

Image

Test fitted the engine with the gearbox

Image

Shifter housing needs to be about 70mm further back.

Gearbox cross member didnt bolt up ideally, so will have a play tonight and see if I can get it secured better.

Image

Clearance between the turbo outlet and the steering rack seems to be ok. Plenty of space for a downpipe.

Image

Tucked right in there

Image

Used an IS200 throttle cable. Perfect length

Image

Didnt like how the brake lines were in the way of the heater outlet on the engine

Image

So I moved them about 100mm to the left. Also ran a clutch line that I got of a random FWD Toyota, while I was there.

Image

In general, everything bolted up fine.

Image

The altezza prop shaft is a little bit too long. Will try an is200 prop closer to the time.

Messy

Just noticed the gold insulation stuff; is it any good? How much was it if you don't mind me asking?

Its pretty decent. My bulkhead heat shield was all ripped and looked very untidy. So I replaced it with tape.

Will an rx8 prop shaft fit?
They are one piece carbon reinforced stuff so much lighter.
I think they are about 60mm too short for an altezza with a 3sge so they might fit.
I like the way you are undertaking a massive power plant conversion and all people are interested in is the gold tape.
keep up the good work man.

Amen twiglett. Sometimes I wonder why I even post on this forum, haha.

Well, an is300 prop will fit and I think is200 is similar length. Manual altezza 3sge is 930mm from memory and is200/300 is about 880mm... But dont quote me on that.

Actually I very much respect what you are doing and look at this thread on a daily basis. After all who can say no to a 2JZ?

I simply asked about the gold heatshielding cause my stock stuff is practically burnt off and I always thought the gold stuff was a gimmick until recently seeing people use it so thought I'd ask the question really.

I have a friend using the gold stuff on his intake pipe on an mx5. He said that it reduced the intake temps of the air a lot, because the pipe doesnt heat up as much without it!

So yea, it does work, but its a bit on the expensive side.

sorry protok i didnt mean it like you were "only" interested in the gold stuff.
on petes project thread on driftworks there are about 5 questions from various people solely asking where the tape could be bought.
im guilty of asking

Made some changes to the JZX110 turbo intake to accept the JZX100 idle control valve pipe.

Image

Since I'll be running an oil filter relocation kit along with a cooler, I decided to bypass the oem oil cooler since logic tells me that the oil will never get colder than the coolant temp. And if your coolant temps are high, that will in turn increase the temprerature of oil.... Undesired in my opinion.

Currently looks like this, but might change.

Image

Image

The power steering pump is usually supported by the air con. Without it I have heard stories that the pas pump bracket snaps the fixing point on the block. So option one was to find an air con pump and remove the bracket, but cant find anything for a reasonable price, so went ahead and mocked up a template for a bracket.

Image

Might come in useful to some folk, here you go

Image

Might not be the most accurate template, but it will do me just fine

A new water pump turned up. Which was a bit of a joke actually. Paid £80 for it, then parcelforce sent me an invoice for £35 'customs charges'.... Someone obviously cant do maths...

Image

Didnt waste any time, pulled everything apart, replaced the pump

Image

And found out that the water pump has already been replaced :p

Image

Better safe than sorry I guess :D

Pulled a few plugs from a Toyota Carina ecu a few weeks ago.

Image

De-pinned them, ready to go into the 1JZ ecu body plugs.

Image

Ended up something like this.

Image

Also labeled them to make it a bit easier to connect down the line.

Image

Connected the following:

28P
IGSW, BATT, +B, CCO, SPD, STP

16P
W, MREL, FPR, FC, ABV, PRG

Not sure if anything else needs to be connected to the ECU to make it run. But that's all I'm aware of for the ECU. So if anyone has anything to add, they are more than welcome :)

And a flashback picture!
