Haven't been on here in a while. Time for an update. Copy & paste obviously

Image

Image

The day that killed the clutch again.

Image

Image

Anyway. Back onto the actual 'build' part.... The springs finally arrived

Image

So yesterday I got some time to fit them

Image

20kg on the front, and 12 kg on the rear (^_^)

Image

Took them out for a test drive. Ooooh boy! Love them! Its like... running your coilovers on full stiffness, but without the harshness.... if that makes sense?! Hardly any rubbing as well on the front now. Awesome purchase.

Same cant be said for the rear, I'm afraid. The 12kgs feel like jelly and crap wank s@3!. Why do they even supply springs like that on 'high spec' coilovers, I will never understand? Will be swapping them out for some 16kg ones as soon as I can spare some cash.

----

Forgot to say that I've made a few changes to the interior as well. Got a Bride recliner, thanks to Mint. Also some unbranded 'made in Japan' wheel that was pretty damn cheap.

Image

Quite like this photo. So much extra lock compared to last year!

Image

----

So, as usual, the whole weekend was spent fannying around with the car.

Since my clutch started to slip and turned gammy after the last drift day, I decided it was time for a swap.

I had zero luck to get a clutch in the time frame available in UK. No one seems to have it, and the next expected delivery to UK is in July. That would have been cutting it too fine before Finalboss.

Twiglett helped out massively by sending me a clutch disk that he had. Thanks a lot man :wack:

Image

Pulled the clutch out in under an hour, with great ease....Love toyotas.

Image

Image

Its definitely seen better days, ideally wanted a new pressure plate and flywheel....But I guess this will have to do for now. Turned out to be a Helix clutch.

Moment of truth..... Twigletts clutch has 1mm more meat on it, so its definitely an improvement. Also its the same diameter.

Image

Yeaaaaaa, that s@3! is going right back in there!!!!!

Got everything bolted back up......It bites.....It works....It does skids....It doesnt slip.... Mission accomplished!!!

Noticed it getting more aggressive as the day went on and I am happy with the result.

Next up, decided to spray the wheel fluorescent green

Image

Image

But only the inside of the barrel :)

Image

Also finished off the lights :)

Image

Not everything went smoothly though..... Went to order BN Sports, and due to some minor problems, I do not think I will get it as fast as I had hoped. So ill just have to wait a little bit longer for my cheat lows.

----

Went for a nice relaxed drive on Friday night. Couldnt see anything though.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Ordered some 16kg springs for the rear after noticing how much the rear suspension travels. Gammy gammy gammy 12k's

----

So I went to fit the 16k springs last night.

Image

While I was there, I decided to roll the arches since the rim kept hitting it and making unpleasant loud bangs. :smash:

They were so easy to roll that I overdid it slightly even without a heat gun. Sooooo because ive rolled them, ive lost all my poke :( So I fitted a 5mm slip on to bring them out slightly and now its hitting the lip again. Fail! Getting the angle grinder out tonight and shaving that bastard lip off.

While I was messing about with the height, thought it would be interesting to see how low the coilovers could go. Went so low, i couldn't get the jack out from the under towing eye :wack:

Image

I settled for something more subframe friendly.

Image

I am actually confident in saying that my car is ready to do boss skids. Just a quick oil change to do, and its good to go :D

----

In other news, I took the angle grinder to the inside lip on the rear arches >_<

Image

Image

Did the job.....kinda. Arch became a little bit floppy. But thats almost a good thing. Now when the rim tucks, instead of a massive bang it just brushes against the lip and moves it out of the way, haha.

That of course allowed me to lower the back a little bit more :)

Image

Also my car does not want to boost past 0.48bar. Tried to get to the bottom of it. Im running a HKS EVC 6 boost controller and apparently a lot of people had the same problem where its not hitting target boost.

Apparently something to do with wastegate initial setup. If the controller does not see a certain boost pressure, it will not activate and therefore will never reach target boost no matter how much you turn it up by. Will set it up again properly tonight, see how well that goes.

Suspension has finally settled to the 'right' height ;)

Right! I'm back! Been on holiday so I havent had the chance to update the thread since Finalboss Matsuri.

Finalboss Matsuri...... Oh man! One word! INSANE!!!

Friday was hectic trying to get tyres fitted and other random s@3!. Finally left Aberdeen towards the evening.

Image

Didnt have time for any pics no the drive down. Were in too much of a rush to get down there before the gates closed.

Arrived, unpacked and set the hotel Altezza up.

Image

And then the fun began

Image

Image

Image

I must say, the level of driving skill at this weekend was insane. It took me a while to get comfortable with the layout. And I had to really push the car.

Image

Image

Image

Had so many offs, knocks and general car abuse.

Started out nice and clean

Image

Image

Image

Image

This was actually the first time I had attempted to drive remotely close to someone. So much fun!

Image

Image

Had to keep pushing so hard to keep up with mint with his jz powers! Breaking something was a question of time

Image

Image

Image

Image

XXR quality

Image

All fixed up

Image

That was the end of day 1

Went to the shops to get some munch. Mint had a blowout. Thats another set of rims f***.

Image

Image

Got him a set of skid wheels to go on the front in record speed.

Image

Next day started out well.

And then got rather wet

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then it dried up and the layout was changed and I actually got the hang of it on the second day.

Image

Image

Image

All in all, it was probably the best weekend of drifting I have ever been to.

Image

All cars got rather battered

I landed on Friday morning. No sleep for over 24 hours. Went straight outside and started to fix the girl up since its been standing all broken for almost three weeks.

Took the aero off

Image

Image

Image

Stuck that back on the car, gave her a wash and went back inside to get some rest at last......

Only to be disturbed by some woman knocking on the door asking me to take a massive box out from the back of the van.... eh? :wack:

Image

Sleep is for the weak!!!

Image

Didnt waste any time, lol

Image

Image

All done

Image

First BN Altezza in UK (correct me if im wrong )

Image

Image

Image

Then went to rescue the :) who somehow mounted a curb

Image

All ready for the journey to driftland for the bash.

Woke up pretty early the next morning and decided to go for a drive to see how the height is. Pretty much dragged the aero all the way there and back from the petrol station.

Raised it a little and headed to Jites'

Image

Still pretty low. But managed to drive 160 miles without cracking it, despite clipping all the reflectors on the road.

Image

As soon as I dropped onto the gravel at driftland, cracks started to appear :D

Image

Image

Image

Then I raised it by 10mm

Image

Definitely more practical.
