Vibration

Postby Altezzahead » Fri May 28, 2010 8:58 pm

My car is starting to wreck my head lately , every week its something else . Todays problem :D I went off and bought 2 new tyres for the car . I got them put on the front and put the old fronts on the back . I asked for the wheels to be balanced as well.
Went of driving afterwards and noticed vibration and the steering shaking slightly at 100-120 km . Driving around city etc i wouldnt notice anything.

Would new tyres have anything to do with this i.e. brand? or should i get the balancing re-done ?

If everything was fine before you got the new front tyres then id be getting them balanced again.

Definitely a re-balance needed.

i have this between 80 to 100kmph but haven't changed anything, so assume it just needs a reballancing aswell...
never argue with an idiot... they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience... :D

I had it around that speed when a front lower ball joint was on the way out so get it checked before more damage could be caused , another reason could be a warped disc.
Try the balancing first but get it checked as soon as , could save u money in the long run :)

how much is a ball joint to replace roughly?? feeling it might be it.... would a warped disc not affect at a larger speed range??

The ball joint problem I had always happened at the exact same speed every time , as far as i remember it was 90km on the dot , but ya maybe a warp disc too but i could be wrong (hopefully). Heres a link on ebay for the ball joints http://cgi.ebay.ie/2-FRONT-LOWER-BALL-JOINT-SET-LEXUS-IS200-99-05-/320470895756
You could try nick too , he was doing a deal on them a while back as far as i remember.

oh it's also veering to the left more than it should on a straight, so allignment is probably out aswell, i'm assuming potholes are to blame... although i haven't been to kerry recently, thats where my car usually gets broke!!! :D

P.S. cheers for the help :D

i think i remember u saying something before , dunno was it your fogs that broke or was that someone else . But ya potholes this year have played a big part in these problems , i only got my car realigned 2 weeks ago from pulling to the left .
