Tez sick again ...

Postby Noel » Thu Feb 04, 2010 8:02 pm

For fecks sake... spent nearly 2 grand getting it back on the road last year and now there's a knocking noise coming from under the rocker cover or deeper... noise speeds up and slows down in time with the throttle...

Mechanic says it's not hydraulic tappets as the Tezza has mechanical shims but didn't want to guess what it might be?

depressed :(

Jesus that's some dose! Sorry to hear that Noel. I wouldn't want to guess either, I'd say the only way to find out would be to strip it down and see.

Sorry to hear that Noel, it's very un Toyota-like. Who knows what it went through in a previous life? I suppose with any second hand car you never really know how it's been treated before you.

it could be one ur shims worn. sounds very like a part of ur valvetrain, if its ur big end bearings u will feel the rumble in ur seat when you rev it.
. check that ur spark plugs aint loose, u would be surprised the noise a loose spark plug can cause.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it
because the only people who really know where it is
are the ones who have gone over.
