So i managed to get Chill insurance through Aviva down to 765. So i just went with them. Really tough insuring a car over 15 years old/ Japanese import.

Well just to reignite this post again. Now with the new insurance companies having issues with car over 15 years my renewal quote this year is €1,590 from €736 last year. I have rang every company under the sun and noone will insure me and anyone that does quotes over 3k. Has anyone gone through this lately and come up with a solution to insure their car cheaper?

Bloddy hell! Thats crazy! I only ever found the Jap specialist brokers giving decent quotes but I am over 30 and got no claims and the car isnt modified so might explain why mine is only about £340!

And just to note. I'm 29. Driving the car for 8 years and 10 years no claims bonus. Madness

Well there was no luck finding anything cheaper. I disgustingly had to cough up the amount and be done with it. The car is up for sale for the right price so that seems to be the only way to get money back on it. Which is a shame as i love the car and has never let me down.

That is a very sad state of affairs when insurance forces you away from a car that you love for a stupid rule! I presume that you have tried any Jap Import specific insurance brokers that you may have in Ireland? I use Mark Richards and a few others in England and they have always found great deals for the Altezza over here.

Unfortunately there is literally no options available. Even tried classic insurance but needs to be 20 years and even then may not pass for the type of car it is.
