Fan / Aux Belts?

Postby RS Tom-Hundred » Thu Dec 18, 2014 9:59 am

I've got a bit of squeal coming from the aux belts occasionally when from cold start up and think I just need to adjust them. May need new belts but will check that when I look at adjusting them.

Does anyone have any advice or even better the procedure or extract from the manual with regards to adjusting the belt tightness on the Altezza please? :)

My rule of thumb, you shouldnt be able to twist the belt more than 90degrees by applying moderate force. Dont forget to loosen the pivot bolts on whatever component you are adjusting (alternator). The pas belt has a sliding tensioner, so no mentioned 'pivot' bolts are present.

Thanks Pete :)

Yeah thats my general rule too but not had chance to check in the light yet :) If it needs tightening (presume at least one does) I guessing from what you say, one belt is adjusted by the alternator on the bracket and the power steering one is done with a slider? Where abouts is the slider adjuster located please?

Cheers :D

The ancillary belt is adjusted by the idler in the second pic in that post
