Auto Tezza Whining Noise when cold!

Postby todd » Fri Apr 13, 2012 10:59 am

Owned my tezza for nearly 3yrs now and since I owned it there has always been a whine from the car when the temp was below 2c but this went away when the car warmed up.

This year however the whine is quite loud, only happens between 10-30mph, below 5c and once again goes away when the car warms up.

The diff oil and tranny oil has been changed regularly so I’m at a loss what this could be.

Anyone else come across this with the auto (I know it’s quite common with the manual).

Cheers

Mark

or could be oil pump or water pump disconnect the belt and turn it on for a sec and see if it still makes the noise then at least youl know if it comes from the engine or one of the above

had a celica exactly the same, narrowed it down to an idler bearing, used to oil it every month and that seemed to keep it in check otherwise would become quite loud, almost like a supercharger
