it will be based on a modified Toyota Auris(Corolla) platform and will be the first front-wheel-drive Lexus
the flagship will use the same powertrain as the US market-only HS250h – that means a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, boosted by an electric motor to produce around 185bhp.
Entry-level engines will be taken from the Auris range, and are set to include a 1.6-litre petrol unit.

I can never fathom why people will buy tiny, underpowered boxes merely because they have the badge. I can sort of see why people pay extra for the brand on bigger and/or more powerful cars, but a shoebox is a shoebox regardless of what badge is on it. You think that someone in an M5/X5 will nod their head in appreciation to a 1-series? A condescending smirk is the best you could hope for!
