it will be based on a modified Toyota Auris(Corolla) platform and will be the first front-wheel-drive Lexus

the flagship will use the same powertrain as the US market-only HS250h – that means a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, boosted by an electric motor to produce around 185bhp.
Entry-level engines will be taken from the Auris range, and are set to include a 1.6-litre petrol unit.

It's just a response to the popularity of the 1-series BMW and it's competitors. It's wrong for so many reasons, but people love the damn things. I predict it will be very popular, unfortunately.

I can never fathom why people will buy tiny, underpowered boxes merely because they have the badge. I can sort of see why people pay extra for the brand on bigger and/or more powerful cars, but a shoebox is a shoebox regardless of what badge is on it. You think that someone in an M5/X5 will nod their head in appreciation to a 1-series? A condescending smirk is the best you could hope for!

starting to look like the Tezza from the front?, now using a 1.8 with hybrid, FWD but i could live with that

The 2010 Geneva Motor Show is almost upon us and it's shaping up to be a cracker. Lexus's centerpiece will be the Lexus CT 200h - a premium compact hybrid that draws on the LF-Ch concept unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Lexus’s first five-door compact car, the CT 200h uses a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine with an electric motor through an electrically controlled continuously variable transmission (E-CVT). And it's not just a concept - Lexus says the car will enter production later this year and launch for sale worldwide.
