hi all any 1 cut their is200 sport spring its a reseason so times are hard

If you cut them they wont sit right on the damper I bought a tezza before with it done was all over the place when ya droped the shoe very dodgey better off to buy 60mm off elite autos delivered for 130/140

cutting the springs changes the spring rate & makes handling worse, also the springs wont fit properly in the cups, The tops and bottoms of the springs are flat when they sit the the spring cups and perches. When people cut them, they are no longer flat but a single prong which takes all the pressure and because the spring is now shorter if you took it over bumpy ground they could pop out..or I guess if you jacked it up when the absorber is fully extended.

Also cutting an already old spring that's seen a lot of action is not a good idea.

Wouldn't you rather pay a bit for a proper kit than drive around with a question mark over the condition of your suspension?

Cuts are horrible to drive on, car will be like a bouncing castle going down the road

Don't no if I'm allowed do this but I've lowering springs for sale I got them with my car but not using them ill do good price save u cutting yours as they just sitting around catching dust

Actually springs are flat only at upper side.
I cut my springs 1 coil off front and rear. Diameter remained the same (although diameter differs on rear springs.
Reason for that was that I bought lowering kit (Vogtland) but they were too damn soft.
Now the car sits nice and with new set of KONI adjustables I would say it handles pretty well.

Can't beleive people are still cutting springs in this day and age!

Especially when a brand new set of lowering springs will only set you back £100 ............ Madness!

as I told they are too damn soft. I've tried Tein's and Vogtland's and they feel like they are ment for much lighter car than mine. I have IS300 loaded with soundproofing and sound equipment. Weighting beyond 1600kg.
Maybe those lowering springs work on much lighter Altezza but...
Only solution here is coilovers. Currently saving for them.

Personally I don't beleive in using lowering springs on standard dampers anyway. I've always put coilovers on all my cars.

Like said if you can't afford to do it properly best just left alone.

That's why my car has been on standard springs/dampers for so long because I wouldn't settle for less than coilovers.

I dont follow...
I bought lowering springs and KONI yellows. Those totaled beyond 800 EUR.
Springs were crap and I used cutted OEM springs.

And still you are talking something about me can not afford 100..- springs.....

That post was intended for the original question posted at the top of the thread!

I don't care how much you spent on suspension, I simply made the point I don't see the need to cut springs when lowering springs are available for next to nothing!

I agree, although coilovers aren't to my taste unless you can customise spring rates, most are way too hard for daily drive, so only real option is tidy set of adjustable shocks and lowering springs, although they can almost be as much as coilovers

I'm looking for some softer springs, what do people use in terms of comfort, I was looking at either Vogtland or Tanabe
