Postby babog » Fri Nov 30, 2007 1:46 pm

wats the story.
new to the site just after installing some hks hyper D coilovers in my altezza.
the handling is great ride is a bit bumpy to be expected do.
but im getting a knocking out of the two front coilovers.
i looked around a bit and seen that i had not put the top hats on i read that you can use the standard top hats so put them on this morning but no joy the knocking is still there anybody any ideas?

knocking is usually a sign, or fluid leaking either from the top of the shock or down the side

No its not.

Did you get top mounts with the shocks or are they the standard ones?
I had some knocking with the teins I put on mine, they were on the standard mounts. Apparently the tein pillow ball mounts will solve the problem. On the other hand it could simply be that the bolts in the engine bay and boot are not tight enough. Check that first.

i have the same coilovers in mine, couldnt tell ya where the knocking is comin out of only the front two as you say. i've been told that the coilovers are made for track use and are noisy by a couple of people. they passed the nct anyway so i wouldn't worry too much about it.

@Dan, I dont know if they can be used with any brand of shock or just Tein specific. It is supposed to be a better set-up than standard.
