abs light on . and trc flashing

Postby danmc » Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:40 am

I had this prob about a month ago whilst driving the abs light came on and the trc light started flashing. while driving i turned off the car and back on this solved the problem for a while. the button doesnt solve prob.

THE prob returned about a week ago and ive reset ecu by disconnecting battery few times on and off.
I took out the abs (SPEED) sensors and cleaned them.
I CHECKED THE ABS FUSE. I DISCONNECTED THE abs meter and relay and reconected.
I have a diagnostics reader plugged her into the obd didn show anything!!!

NOTHING HAS SOLVED THE PROB, has anyone come across this problem before???? if you have any advice i would be greatfull

I DONT REALLY MIND THE TRC LIGHT FLASHING BECAUSE THE TRC IS CONSTANTLY OFF, this doesnt bother me as i drive all the time with the trc off but its having no abs that is worrying me. btw i have checked brake lines and reserve evrything there is ok and all brakes are working

can the trc sensor effect the abs, is this in the box or diff?????
Ya cant piss on what ya cant catch!!!!!!!

It should be around the front wheels somewhere

There's one on each hub

trc and abs light flashing is a warning indicator that something is actually wrong and needs to be checked out properly ... is there a good mechanic you can take it too  it's not Microsoft, so just resetting ain't going to magically fix everything, all your doing is erasing the fault message in the ECU, it'll keep coming back until it's properly sorted...

i already reseted but didn't help. kept coming back on.

down here it's either live with it or do it yourself since we don't have support for JDM cars. however, i have a spare Altezza for parts so if you could explain what i can check and where to see if that makes a difference would be highly appreciated...!!

Car drives perfectly with no problems. Had this problem once in the past...but when i parked the car, turned it of, and back on...it didn't do it anymore. And that was like a year ago.

take off the front wheel and look behind the dust guard around the caliper, you should see a wire connected up to it

in your engine bay there is a diagnostic port.
using a paper clip or conductive wire jump E1 to Tc.
turn on ignition (but do not start car)
four indicator lights you need to pay attention to:
1. TRC
2. ABS
3. check engine
4. SNOW

each light should continuously blink on and off.
if not, count the numbers.
each fault code will be two digit: first digit, short pause, second digit, then long pause.
there may be several fault codes per indicator.
when you get those numbers,
post them up here.

also, you can reset the ABS computer while in this diagnostic mode by depressing the brake pedal as fast as you can as many times as you can (8 times in 3 seconds i think).
i would check the codes first, then reset the computer, drive around a little bit (take the jumper out), and recheck the codes.

good luck.

Guys,

I have this same problem. I checked the fuses and they are all good. I noticed that after i drove through a puddle of water the ABS and TRC lights went out. It came back on the next day. So...I took off the wheel and gave the wheel arch, left front wheel, and the sensor (in place) a good wash. The lights went out again. I will check tomorrow if it comes back on.

Is it a simple fix as just changing the sensor? Or is the problem worse than that?

Also to note before all of the above, i was on the track and when i was leaving it came on. My power steering pump is dead and fluid squirted through the reservoir cap into the engine bay. It wasnt like the BP spill but it did get around that area. This could have contributed to the problem.

Just before i went into the pits i had spun out...hard braking after the straight to a short left into a 90 right...i braked and the car tug left which sent it sideways to the right and then to the left...slowed down...catch myself...went straight into the pits...something didnt feel right...when i was leaving the track the ABS light came on and the TRC OFF light was flashing...

Any help would be appreciated...
