Idle hands....Jizzed up my spare wheel

Postby Evelyn » Sun Jun 27, 2010 6:14 pm

My spare wheel is a lexus wheel (yes I get alot of punctures so I need a big wheel :( ) Anyone that has the original wheels know the blister and the plaint falls off. I got this wheel from a mate (foc) & it was quite bad. So I resided I would see what I would look like painted up. I spent about 1hr on saturday just sanding it a prep it. Didnt spend too long at it as it is only my spare wheel. But this is the result...makes me think I wouldnt mind them all looking like that

 looks great i think! wat paint is best to use for a strong finish for road wheels? Thinking of doing all mine but afraid of it coming off after a decent drive with normal wear and tear

I was house bound all wkend so I had some time on my hands  I sprayed the wheel first then masked it off for the rim. Its not 100% but its 80%.

Oh I used some cheap stuff from the motorfactors so I cant guarantee how long it will last. Its only my spare wheels so didnt use the top shelf stuff. Its called black pearl, there seems to be a little bit of a silver flicker trough it and looks well in the sun.

looks really good you done a nice job of it.
painted mine black a while ago going to put a white lip on when i get the time.
normal rattle cans are fine to do it mine are fine after 3 or 4 months, the prep work and the amount of coats you put on makes a big difference.also putting on a few coats of laquer helps.

I just used middle of the road sandpaper not sure what spec and then ran over all of it again with smooth and that did the trick.
