looking for info on evo5 or rx7

Postby luckyali » Fri Nov 20, 2009 12:09 am

i think its time for me to move on..
my mates is taking my tezza. Its not a 100% yet cuz im stil 50/50 about the car.

i have 2 option
1)mazda rx7
2) evo 5

i know good bit about rx7 always wanted one that be my 1st choice.

i am really looking what kind of trouble can u get from evo5? any common problems? what should i look for before getting one? i have few frens with scooby they are ugly looking cars dont like the way they handle (thats what i feel)

so any info/links on evo would be great or rx7.

thanks

coilpacks rear diff is prone to breaking launching wouldnt be a good idea either cause clutches are like paper unless you have a good performance 1 and even they go downside ofevo really is the mechanical labour there very awkward to work at and rx7 well every1 nows they meed a rebuild after so many miles

You better have deep pockets if you want to own a rotary. I work for a Mazda dealer here in NZ & even the RX-8 aren't the most reliable of things. Sure they look & sound cool but the Wankel rotary engine will never be as reliable as a conventional piston engine. If your going Evo I'd try find a 6.5 Tommi Makinen.

evo 5 rear diff and shafts are fairly delicate but with every car if you dont a abuse them it should be fine!

RX7 will need an engine rebuild at some stage, I've seen a few with problems with the turbos and they drink oil if you can keep them on the road long enough.
