Insurance

Postby Mr. Tezza » Tue Mar 20, 2007 11:12 am

Hey lads just wondering who everyboy is insured with...

A buddy of mine is looking to buy an Altezza and he's rang up a few companies and nobody seems to do insurance for them!

Apparently they will only insure the AS200 version which is only 158bhp or something like that... correct me if i'm wrong on that bhp figure. He practically has the car bought he just can't find insurance for it anybody know anyone who will???

they only have one Altezza on their books as well, told them it was an Auto and she told me it's all the same???

what about that crowd up north.. Britin (spell?) insurance, ring them and see....online won't work as it's an import!

Just rang up FBD there trying to get a quote, and they said they are no longer taking quotes on any high perfromance vehicles ie Altezza's! Does somebody else want to ring up and give them a go? That sounds ridiculous to me!!

i'm 22 (tomorrow!) with 1 years no claims and 2 championship points and paid about €1700 with Hibernian without any fibs. 8)
Quinn direct quoted me €1000 with 2 years no claims about 2 months ago. The wind has changed since so that could now be €10k knowing them

When I was living over there I was with Hibernian, they sent me on a one day driving course which would if you passed would reduce your premium.
I ended up getting 70% knocked off because the examiner said I was one of the best he'd seen.

I cheekily said thats because I was taught in the UK

Yeah I did that as well Lee, didn't altogether manage 70% discount though :o Fair play its tough to get above the basic 20%. Anything in particular you reckon they liked or are you just an all round driving god?

Not sure mate, the examiner was an ex-garda instructor and he liked the fact that i took the right lines around the corners so I could see what was ahead. He also said I had very good awareness.
Oh yeah plus the fact I am a member of the IAM :D

i did the hibernian ignition course and taht gave me a 60% discount on my civic but when i jumped up to an Altezza it didnt apply. Does anyone know if having passed the advanced driving course, does this reduce your premium's at all ?

Reduces your premium but only applies up to a 1.6 I'm afraid...

I'm with insure.ie, did he try them? Hibernian is my under-writer...
