altezza diff question

Well lads, I'm new to the altezza scene and I have a few question to ask. I was told it had a trd diff of some sort but there is no whine off it. I presume it is a standard diff I heard some are LSD and others are torsion, would both of these diffs be suitable for diffing? And how much oil would the diff take going freshen up the oil :) thanks for all the feed back in advance :D

Factory diffs are either open or Torsen. Every clown in Ireland thinks any Tez that spins 2 wheels has a TRD diff but they usually haven't a clue. A torsen is plenty fit for messin anyway, don't bother changin the diff unless it's givin problems.

Well lads a bit of a update in this. I jacked up the back wheels today and spun the left wheel forward and the right wheel spun in reverse. Is this the standard torsion diff does anyone know. Sound :D

If the wheels are spinning in opposite directions it just has a standard Open diff. No lsd.

Torsen diffs don't lock without weight on both wheels. Looking at the vin plate in the engine bay is the easiest way to tell if you have a factory LSD, the axle/diff code will end in a b.

Yea or just go out and try and do hoops TBH best way of knowin if your diffs up to the job.

The unlocking when weight comes off 1 wheel has lead to some hairy moments :lol:

If you have the factory torsen LSD put some 75W140 or 80W140 in it. It'll help it hook up better. I run Motul 75W140 in mine currently, it's very good. I've also tried Castrol 75W140 & it was fine but Motul's ester base stock mean it wont shear back(thin viscosity) when it gets hot
