2nd gear 5000rpm,gets a burst of power,what is it?

Postby Evelyn » Wed Feb 27, 2008 5:54 pm

Hi, I know its probably a stupid question, but when I am driving all the time and your shifting gears, always in 2nd gear at 5,000rpm it will get this burst of power (not neck breaking). Small bit like the sensation of nos (small bit).I was giving a lift home to someone one day they said "whats that, that just happened". It nothing major just wounding what it is & is it in every altezza.....

Yep that's the vvti alright!! You can get a vvti timer to adjust when it kicks in but I know someone who has one and they said it was a waste of time of money!

yeh its the exact same as a v-tec in a honda, only they get it a 6,000 rpm. its the second cam kicking in, i.e the power cam. all it does is open the valves a little more to give it a bit more power. so keep it in mind if your driving the car over 5,000 rpm your gonna use more juice.

so keep it in mind if your driving the car over 5,000 rpm your gonna use more juice

I only do it about twice a day where I work coming on to a main road I try to be gone because of the traffic coming behind me. They come over a hill and I have only a short stretch to be gone.....
