The insurance is up on the old girl on sunday so I've been ringing around a few of the import insurance companys to get some quotes and have just spent the last hour sorting out pics and specs of the car to email of to them.

My renewal came in at £631 a with a quick phone call saying I'm not happy with that as it was almost £90 more than last year they soon knocked it down to £595
why they didn't give me this price 1st time round I do not know.
I asked why it was more and they say that the insurance rates they use have gone up which they may of done who knows, so anyway I've sent the car details off to a few other insurance companys to see what they come up with.

I'll keep you posted.

well the best quote I got was £575 so I rung up my insurance company and told them they came down to £580 in the end which I took as it was easier than swapping companys.

On the plus side my new policy covers me to drive the girl friends 1.5 yaris T Sport which is a right little pocket rocket.
The negative side now being that I'm gonna have to start modding it as I have promised to tweak it a bit once I'm on the policy

I do think they sometimes just pluck numbers out of the air

I've got 7 years ncb and my car is only insured for social domestic and pleasure as I do not use my car for driving to work so I think this may help with the price as the car is only driven weekends and evening really

also I find as I'm a member of a few car clubs which have deals with the insurance companys at a reduced rate.
maybe worth getting 1 of the site reps to ring round and see if any companys will do discounts for car club members

or else it sounds like a really bad idea...

telling an irish insurance company that there's 10 or more altezza's all looking to get insured under a club..

what they hear is... altezza becoming more popular as a boy racer car, hike up the price of insurance on them........ again...........

I agree , Irish insurance market isn't the same as the UK, they have a way better understanding over there and alot more competition.... :(
