Newbie, looking to buy an Altezza but need info

Postby peteconneely » Mon May 09, 2011 5:04 pm

Looking at an Altezza in Dublin but the owner says he doesnt know what suspension is in it?im worried due to the super strut suspension problems that come with altezzas?

http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2060659

If anyone has info about the suspension in them or about this actual car it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Welcome to Tezzaworld. .

Altezza DONT have super strut that was on the celica, levin, etc. . The only problem altezzas that are lowered suffer from is inside tyre wear and ball joints going. . Neither are huge money to sort. .
I dont know that altezza but looks well. .

you should look in the for sale section on site there's a few nice cars out there. The thing with most altezzas around is most are abused simple as. . If things start going wrong the bill can mount up quick. .
Look at as many altezzas as you can because they all drive different. .

Altezzas have double wishbone alround. .

there should be no reason why he shouldnt let you look underneath if he wants the sale like was said have a look on the for sale section here. as there are quite a few non abused ones. best of luck

Well it looks the part. Looks good with that kit on. How bad can it really be underneath if it's got a fresh NCT?

I agree, maybe it hasn't a 2way diff thats he's on about

Did he give you a reason why he wont let you examine it? Like is the lift to far from where's he located and doesnt want to waste time/petrol or is he just being an ass. Is he afraid his car is too low for some lifts or

I think at this stage anyone selling an altezza should do their best to get rid of them

oh yeah welcome to tezzaworld

This is a sweet looking car.. I was looking at it a few months back on donedeal but it didnt have test at the time thats the only thing that put me off.... But i agree with the rest of the lads if he has nothing to hide he will get it over a pit or on a lift for you..... Best of luck with the hunt & welcome to TezzaWrold

Hello & welcome! :D

If i was you i'd give your man one chance to let you view underneath the car and if he refuses then bid him a good day!
As moomoo said, if you really want to get rid of the car you'll do what it takes to help the sale!

The nct wouldnt prove much to me to be honest cause nowadays thers plenty lads puttin cars thru tests by paying enough money. He also says he doesnt know where nct print out is, he just has disc on window, suspect since test done a few days ago???

And distance is no problem to him, im in galway nd he said he'd meet me halfway in athlone but when said putting it up on lift with a toyota mechanic in athlone he said no???He could be worried about it being low but i had civic before this and it was well lowered and it went up on lifts.........?

To be honest, there's enough altezzas out there. If he wont let you put it on a lift, and you want to see under the car and you not happy. . Just walk away :? . . At the end of the day if you find a clean altezzas that your happy with, all you have to do is get the same front bumper and wheels, will cost you around €600 and you'l have one that looks the same. .
