Tezza owner wannabe

Postby SlipperyFox » Thu May 08, 2008 1:39 pm

Hi all,

Looking to buy myself an Altezza AS200 as the RS200 requires premium unleaded which you can't seem to get anywhere.
Looks like the specs for the AS200 have been posted incorrectly, looks like the RS200 specs where pasted by mistake.

Looking forward to contributing to the forum

get an RS200 and put maxol E5 in it and you'll be fine... you'll always regret it otherwise as the AS200 is the same as an Irish IS200 only with less spec... if the power doesn't matter get an IS200 as prices on them are dropping a lot :wink:

btw welcome to the site :)

Cheers Noel, Originally wanted the RS because of the power. The premium fuel put me off though. How much you payin for E5 at the mo.

Cheers

E5 is the same as normal petrol ( ALL Maxol is E5) .... :wink: basically it's 95% regular unleaded and 5% bio-ethanol, brings the octane up to 97-99ron depending how fresh it is.... :)

some MAXOL garages also sell E85 bio-ethanol which is as the name suggests 85% bio and 15% regular unleaded, octane is over 100ron with this but you'd have to purchase and install a converter device...(cheaper from the states)

Anyway the RS200 ECU is able to retard the timing and this allows you to run normal 95ron without worry of detonation...

there's no secondhand market for used AS200, so if you buy one you'll be stuck with it.... you're wise to do your research first as some dealers see "beams" on the engine cover and sell them to unsuspecting young fellas as RS200's ... :x

This is great Noel, so can I run on 95ron straight off the bat or do I need to change the ECU to be able to do this. What effects does running 95ron have.

Do the AS200's come with BEAMS on engine cover also ? Whats the best way to insure you are getting a real RS200 then, Chasis no ? I will propably be importing mine from Japan.

I see from your sig you get 34mpg, that's fantastic. You running E85 or what

This is all great news for me, had given up on the RS200 idea :D

Yes you can fill it up and drive it home on normal 95 Ron, it'll be down 10 or so bhp but that's not really noticeable...

Yes the AS200 also has "beams" on the engine cover too, but the easiest way to tell an RS from an AS is cylinders...

RS200 = 4 cylinders and approx 210bhp
AS200 = 6 cylinders and approx 153-160 bhp

yes chassis no. should be SXE10*****

nope tank filled with E5 as Maxol don't sell E85 down here...

I normally get low 20's mpg from my 5AT but had to drive up and down to Dublin the other day and took it reasonably handy (wife in car) and with 90 %motorway/ dual carraigeway, 10% city / town was plesently surprised.....
if it was motorway only i estimated it at approx 37mpg

depends really on your driving style and roads... but it is possible, gauge for 25mpg average... RS200 is too much fun normally to be worried about mpg... :twisted:
:wink:
