HID kits

Postby Noel » Fri Jul 13, 2007 12:34 pm

Who's fitted one and what brand, cost? ... how good are the results?

thinking of doing it now that i need to change the dip bulbs ... but worried about getting burned with getting a kit off ebay or the likes...

cheers :)

Mine came with Belloff HID. They seem easy enough to fit and look well. Think Dan got some of a website that he said were good to deal with.

Yep thankfully my PIAA HID kit came with the car. Try Here. Ive bought replacement bulbs off them before and they are cheaper than Ireland and fast delivery. Some of the guys on LOC got HID kits off ebay and said they are great. If you want a good reliable(but pricey) set i'd go for Philips or PIAA or Meccatune

I think 6000K are the whitest you can get without going into blue/yellow colours

The NCT issue really depends on the person you get on the day...

The reason why aftermarket HIDs don't pass the nct is because cars that come equipped with Xenon headlights are required to have headlight washers so you fail if you don't have these :(

so if you were to put the halogen bulbs back in for the test would it damage or effect the ballast for the hid's??

You just remove the ballast box & bulbs & put the original bulbs back in, takes two seconds. They're just plug & play there's nothing involved...

You guys are lucky to be able to install HIDs...over here, we're not allowed to install them...but, news cars with them, it's ok...doh!!! one of my local Tezza group guys got fined...eventhough he's came with it from Japan...double doh!!!

In theory your not allowed install them over here either, because they say any HID's need to have automatic levelling adjusters or something like that, No way it can be enforced really as the cops wouldnt know whether they were factory fitted or not!

@Georgie: Only one kit is need per pair of lights
