Spare Wheel Help please?

Need some fairly urgent advice on spacesaver spare wheels please as I've just found out I'm probably currently driving around without a spare wheel that will fit?!

Ive only had the car about a month and while I was maintaining my brakes/painting my calipers and decided to try the space saver I have in the boot, on the rear hub and it wouldn't fit! It seemed to be foaling on the brakes so I couldn't even get it close enough to check the PCD of the studs matching.

It seems to be an original Japanese spacesaver from something as it has Japanese writing also on it but deffo doesnt fit on my Altezza (or not on the rear at least). It's a 15" one and has a Bridgestone Tracompa-3 tyre fitted and the size is T135/70D15

What size should the spacesaver be to fit the Altezza please so I can source a replacement that will fit? And just to double check, is the PCD I need 5x114.3?

Cheers

If you're not sure if it's the right one, you might be best off just being a can of tyre sealant. All modern cars come with that instead of a spare tyre anyway!

Thanks for the reply. Definitely want a spare wheel though thanks, dont like the idea of the stuff in the can and if the tyre just needs resealing or a repair then the tyre is ruined by the repair stuff usually.

Also would prefer another spacesaver as although they aren'y as convenient as a full size wheel, I keep my tools in the car on top of the spacesaver, under the floor and would like to keep that the same :)

No one has anything locally so looks like being an online purchase. One breakers yard suggested that either a 16" or 17" spacesaver would be ok - does anyone know if that is right and a 16" spacesaver will be ok?

Anyone got any ideas or can look at the one in their boot for me please? :)

Why not run a lexus alloy but put it in upside down so that you have the sapce inside the wheel for tools? Spacesavers are absolute poo, I would never put one on my car. You'l probably struggle to find one with the right bore too. Had a look on DW? people got all sorts of wheels on there

That could be another option and shorten the holding down bolt but not sure if the width of the standard wheel woule still be shallow enough to fit in the well and allow the carpet floor to still fit right - can anyone confirm this please?

Sorry mate, what is DW? Only thing I could think of was Driftworks - is that where you meant?

So just to clarify in case I still go down the original route, has anyone got/does the Altezza come with a spacesaver wheel from the factory and if so what is the size please?

Cheers

I had a 7 inch in my well and the boot liner thing did sit a little bit higher but barely. Actually I just remembered the bit the holding bolt goes into sticks out which wasn't an issue as I had a slight dish on my wheels but a standard lexi wheel will probably be resting on it if its upside down so maybe not a good option after all.

Yea I meant Driftworks sorry.

Just found this though, according to the internet they have the same bore http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS220-I ... 2a49ddccb9

Thanks Tosh. Yeah not sure about the raised bit as it may fit in the centre bore of a standard wheel if the cap is removed but weirdly I tried one of my standard wheels (which are actually Lexus wheels rather than original Altezza ones) and it didnt seem to fit (diamater) But then again it was raining and I was rushing so it could have been at an angle but I dont want that same hassle if I get a flat in the pouring rain and I have a boot full of stuff etc. Im leaning towards finding a 16" spacesaver and seeing if that fits.

Thanks for the link :) I saw that one too and seemed to be coming from abroad but also think there other Toyota models' spacesavers that may wont and be in the UK - its just taking the gamble on a 16" one without having tried it. That's why I was hoping someone on here may have tried it or knew if they fit over the brakes :) While I had the wheel off to try in the well, I tried the spacesaver on the front just to make sure and it deffo wouldnt go on there either and it wouldnt clear the brakes.

Wonder if there is anything in the owners manual about the standard wheel/spacesaver size - will have a check.

So are you guys mostly running full size spare and fits in the well? If so, is it a 17" and has it got a 215/45/17 tyre fitted?

Yea that's what most of us have, you can get the tool kit that fits the full size spare wheel from a well spec'd Lexus is200
