Will rear door handles fit the Front!!??

Postby stacky » Fri Oct 05, 2012 2:30 pm

Long story short, some SCUMBAG tried to break into my car this week by shoving a screwdriver into my drivers door lock and not only ruined the lock but also did a job on the handle itself! (Absolutly furious).

Anyways, before i bought a new door handle I thought....

The rear handles look (to me) almost identicle to the front ones. I would like to fit two rears to the front as the rears have no key hole in the plastic part.
I thought it would not only be a nice mod (smooth de-locked look all round), but would also be good from an anti theft point of view and possible deter someone from trying it again.

So.... whats the verdict! Anyone done it or know if it can be done before i buy them!!??

cheers

Not quite the same.

The drives lock has a bolt at 90degrees to thhandle because the locks in the way of the normal mounting.

But if you swap the plastic pully mechanism over, and make a small bracket from a bit of bent metal it will work perfectly.

If you get the driver door handle out you'll spot it.

Ps. I don't know if it's different on the Tezzas but only the drivers door has a lock so you only need to do one.

same on my car only 1, only thing is if you get a flat battery how you get inside?
boot but have the rear seat's in the way unless you make a pull or solenoid which would require a voltage source in the boot to open the door

Well I've relocated the battery to the boot already, and I've fitted one of these on the side of the spare wheel well outside:

ah right good if you got battery post's like that, just thinking could actually creat a bonnet pull under car at front somewhere, so atleat you could get to the battery, or like you did and put some terminals somewhere in wheel arch just to use to open doors
future project I think got too many things at the moment otherwise house will be full of car part's
