Re: 3sge beams tiptronic help

In the states we have the autos with tiptronic in the is300. The tiptrpnic is controlled on the steering wheel with buttons for up and down. Since its in an older car, you need a custom wiring job and most likely a standalone transmission controller. Powertrain Control Solutions, about $700 usd and ...

Re: Compression Testing Altezza Engine while out of the car..?

It is possible but id make a jig to mount the engine to sit upright propely. Then get a fully charged battery and test it. Nothing to it really. Remove any fuel flow anf disable ignition.

Re: Apexi Power FC for Stock Tezza

From what i have been told from apexi, the ecu is the same. The power fc for use with apexi turbo kit means it is tuned for the apexi turbo kit before being shipped. Buy the standard one, because a map tuned for turbo car will not run well at all if its not turbocharged none of the functions are dif...

auto head mods for boost

Goingto go with an auto head for a boosted car simply for the stiffer springs and steel valves. Now where can i get even stiffer springs, cams and retainers for an auto head? The toda vvti cams are strictly for the manual. I'm no engineer so i dont know how much lift and duration i can go before eli...

Re: full forged rebuild help with head req

The stock head flows well, especially in boosted conditions. I dont know much about the hks turbo kit, but im assuming its a gt28 based turbo. That being the case leave the rpm range alone. You could upgrade to toda cams like soiled, they are 268 intake and 264 exhaust, retain vvti. These would be g...

Re: 1JZ altezza

Get a front clip from a soarer or an aristo with vvti. Mounts you should get from a usa spec is300 that way it sits perfect. Find yourself somebody good at wiring and have them make a patch harness. Custom drive shaft wil be needed as well as a differential from a soarer. Its pretty straight forward...

Re: gearbox weakest link

Hey soiled and trd shane, thanks for the input. You say you stripped a gear soiled and shane you said you stripped 2nd. By stripped do you mean the syncros gave out and then sheared the teeth off the planetaries? I've got a company here in the states that replaces the syncro with almost a dog type s...

gearbox weakest link

hey guys, ive seen so many posts about the altezza gearbox being weak. Was the TRD upgraded gearbox weak too? Im curious as to what makes this gearbox weak. Do people break gears? I've been told the circlips break. Ive been told it wont hold 300hp but there are people with plenty more power. Reason ...

Re: ? 's for soiled (cam/boost related)

Goal is to build a responsive time attack car. Also going to run it a mile long top speed run. This is the need for the high rpms. Gearing is so short in the tezza trans, rpms are needed to improve top speed, but also reaponse is needed because the car has to start under its own power. When im on th...

Re: ? 's for soiled (cam/boost related)

Good enough answer! Do you think the cams you have and a bigger ar housing or even slightly larger turbo you could spin it higher to say 8500rpm? Im curious because i dont want to buy parts that wont work with the rest of the engine. I want to keep vvti (spool aid) but want a higher redline to take ...

? 's for soiled (cam/boost related)

Soiled, props to building the most agressive street altezza ive seen. I look at youe dyno and im like damn! And then i go WHY? The power band hits 7800 rpm and stops! You have a built engine, great fueling and cams and springs. The cam specs on the toda cams should allow you to see 8500rpm. At least...

Re: IS300 - Fully Converted to RHD - BEAMS Motor - Driving Issues HELP!!!!!!!

Nice job on finding that. Im from the usa as well anf this is more of a common motor than youd think. This engine is a high compression motor did you ever think to get the ecu remapped for 91 octane fuel? This engine is made for 95 or 98 ron. Our equivalent here would be 93 octane so unless you live...

Re: Altezza gearbox

I would go r154 and get an adapter plate. Youll have trouble breakin them. W series are as weak as a tezza box gone wrong. Soiled has proven the altezza box can hold, just take care of it. Swapping in a w or r series box means also swapping the differentials. R and w series need about a 3.91 diff ou...

Re: Exhaust VVTi - Is it worth it?

Bm ringing back from dead, as i think this is a really good topic! I wondered the same thing, is the exhaust vvti worth it? I believe it is as i agree with tais300. Moving the vvti can result in earlier spool but also result in more over all power and torque through the whole range. Id love a fast s...
