Re: What triggers the VVti?

When I had my engine apart last year to diagnose a knock, I also found that the cams have a little "free play" of maybe 10 degrees or so when putting a spanner on by hand. One moves more freely in both directions than the other. I think I uploaded a video on here actually to ask if it was ...

Re: help please. bouncing revs and high idle rpm

That is an interesting one Tosh about the tps. How many miles have you done since the battery by the way? Whenever I have had the battery disconnected for a period of time, the ECU resets (as it should) and when I next drive the car I get funny idle or high idle and also if I coast from say 60mph I ...

Re: Forged engine rebuild vvti cam timing problem

Not sure if Im getting the wrong end of the stick here (and might be because you have non standard cams) but the cam pulleys and timing is all done as usual and even with the VVTi system non of this can move with the belt on. The VVTi moves everything within the inside of the cam pulleys so that the...

Re: What triggers the VVti?

As Protok says, it is constantly advancing and retarding timing to set it to the optimum level for either economy or performance. This is on both exhaust and intake cam pulleys in the case of the black top 3SGE and it uses the solenoids on the top of the engine to feed oil into chambers in the pulle...

Re: Misfire!!!

When you say about the oil. Is it down the hole where you access the spark plug or is it actually on the electrode of the spark plug after you remove it? If its the former, then its likely that it is just the cam cover gasket is leaking a bit of oil and can be resealed by removing the cam cover and ...

Where abouts are you based? Those prices you said about seem way high! I thought that even now, £3k would get you a good one? Not double that?

Re: Spam

Its a massive shame as there is so much info on here and even though there are probably way less members on here than there used to be (bound to be with less Altezzas about!) I think if someone were able to pick it up and solve the problems and improve it then there would probably be more members si...

Re: is200 and altezza visual difference

Mine has been fitted with IS200 fogs as a lot of the Altezzas were when imported for an easy and tidy fix to get rear fog lights. My plan is to put this back to the Altezza way with 4x tail and brake light and have separate smaller LED fogs lower in my bumper skirt (once I've made it! LOL)
