Re: Engine Knocking/Rattle! :(

Thanks for the reply :-) That's good about the plug gasket. I'll check better in the light at weekend :-) Thats interesting what u say about cam gear. Re: Engine Knocking/Rattle! :(

Wasted most of rest of night trying to drill the broken bolt out (cos my mains drill stopped working and the battery one was next to useless so think i need a new mains one to do it!) Also whipped the coil packs off to look in there though and worryingly, they all seem to have oil on! Is this likely...

When I looked for codes there werent any on there. Thanks Tosh :) I'll take the cover back off and poke a torch down there to ha...

Re: Engine Knocking/Rattle! :(

Timing belt. +valves/valvesprings. is my guess from the vid. and a mechanic recently mentioned something about a knock related to low fuel quality at high rpm, so if you have been running poor fuel, try a fuel system cleaner, and refil with premium. -no dice? my first stop would be a new timing bel...

Re: Engine Knocking/Rattle! :(

Thanks mate :) I was (and still am a bit!) scared of the potential big problem this could be but feel a bit better after talking to my Dad about it and he is optimistic that it sounds like a top end issue rather than a bottom end one from the video and his experience (he is retired recently but was ...

Re: Engine oil?

Loads of threads on forum about oils, Yeah, tell me about it mate - I've read loads and I'm mostly veering towards staying with 5w30 purely cos its been run on that already and doesn't burn/use any. Want to go for a decent one and change it often rather than massively high end one and risk not want...

Engine oil?

Im gonna do an oil change on the Altezza probably this weekend and trying to decide on oil to use. Searches on here and other owners clubs advise various similar things mostly summerised by this quote: "Factory fill is 5.1L of 10W-30 or 5W-30. Being a performance engine you want an oil meeting ...
