Re: mlcoolj's RS200-Z...

LOL  Well, you know I bought the car with a knackered ball joint on the left upper rear arm? I think the fromer owner got sideways and hit a curb (sidewalk?), so the ball joint broke and the wheel got a small dent. Don't know what I'll do yet. I would like to do what you did, but if they make m...

I don't like this car...NAH, just kidding, but you know that already 8)
I need to get my wheels done, too. Got to have one straightened out.

Re: 3sge turbo conversion

If I would drive in the hills most of the time, I would go for the higher (number) final drive to get better torque at the wheels, like a rally car. Top speed would be sacrificed for more poweroutput (acceleration), with the same engine power output. But if you're planning to put on a turbo, then wh...

Re: 3sge turbo conversion

Doesn't a higher final gear ratio makes for less top speed and higher rpms at cruise speeds?
And how much, actually?

Given the legal speed limits it might just be a fine upgrade if one wouldn't mind sacrificing those.
And how would it be on a track(day)?

Re: 3sge turbo conversion

The Max boost you can run safely on stock compression (11.5:1) is about 11 psi, slightly higher on the auto engine WITH A GOOD TUNE and progressive boost. There are a few altezza`s that have run 320 to 350 bhp on stock internals for 10k+ miles without issues, you need to watch the Torque tho as thi...

Re: 3sge turbo conversion

I think you'll always have to run with some kind of electronic controller, so define "simple"
But when you do, please let us know how you get along :D

Re: Club Racer project : TWO IS200s(LHD) with 3S-GE swap!!!

Very, very, VERY impressive! You guys are doing it the right way. Here in the Netherlands people have tried racing the IS200 but only with the 1gfe engine. They had no real successes. Competitors raced cars like the BMW 3-series. Putting in the 3sge you showed that a few good races can be one with t...

Re: 3sge turbo conversion

1. There was a TOM's version of the Altezza with 280ps output which had a bolt-on kit without losing factory warranty (Netz), but they're "expensive" ($8k -range) http://www.nengun.com/toms/hyper-compressor-kit-sxe10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 2. There are still kits fo...

Nice work, there! 8)
Looking at your tubing/piping, I was wondering if a top strut brace would still fit? Looks like there's not much space left.
Keep us posted.

Re: 3SGE flywheel

Oh and torque settings are as follows: - Flywheel bolts: 100-110 Nm (stretch type bolts) - Clutchplate cover: 18-20 Nm I'll have to open my box again and re-torque my flywheel bolts  because got the wrong info from the internet, but luckily Nick woke me up  Got to do it the right way!

Re: CLUTCH

The gearboxes of the AS200 / IS200 (GXE10, 1GFE) and the RS200 (SXE10, 3SGE) are the the same (gearbox code J160). So they use the same clutch plate, clutch (pressure) cover and push type release bearing (read: interchangable). Note 1: the IS300 on the other hand uses an entirely different gearbox. ...
