Re: High oil pressure.

Should sit 2-3 notches below top of factory gauge at motorway speeds. I'd get an aftermarket guage to be more precise with a turbo set up.
Mine sits 2 below top at 3000 rpm / 100 kph in 6th with Motul 300V 5W30.
If the previous owner put an Ester based 50 weight oil in it would increase oil pressure

Re: Spark Plugs?

I've used NGK BKR6EIX11 & Denso VK20 Iridium in mine. Both great plugs. Didn't notice any difference between the two brands. Denso has the advantage of longer service intervals, 100K vs 60K km. IK20 are only good for 20-30K.
I wouldn't bother with platinum, doesn't spark as well as iridium.

Re: Engine oil?

Didnt realise that you could mix different grades of oils though! That's interesting! Are you 100% sure I wouldnt have any problems mixing a litre of 10W40 Supersyn with my 5W30 XTR then? You'll have no problems at all mixing 5w40 supersyn with 5w30 xtr, they're both from the same manufacturer so w...

Re: Engine oil?

 the old 1 arm bandit. That test isn't worth the paper it's written on http://youtu.be/Ne7ayhPVVYY I personally don't rate motul oils at all, they did very poor in an engine oil comparison test I read. But 5w30 will be sound if it doesn't burn much stick with it http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oi...

Re: Engine oil?

That XTR looks a bit too thin. I've found anything over 11 cSt @ 100°C runs best in the 3SGE. Oils that meet A3 & C3 are over 11 & have a HTHS of 3.5 I'm running Mout 300V 5W30 also. It's brilliant oil. Just had my last batch tested after 8K km & it's holding up fine. Being a race oil it...

Re: Ideal Tyre pressure for Altezza

35 psi is the ideal pressure for the OE tyre size 215/45 R17.
Running lower pressures you may experience premature front inner tyre wear. I've yet to see a Toyota rattle it's self to pieces. Part of a decent service is checking nuts & bolts tight anyway.

Re: Club Racer project : TWO IS200s(LHD) with 3S-GE swap!!!

Wow this car has come a long way. Quality build.

Couldn't help but notice the addition of the Motul sticker, I assume you're running 300V? What viscosity do you use? I run 5W30 300V in my daily driver, it's amazing stuff isn't it.

 Thanks for spaming my thread FrankReece. Anyway haven't been on here for a while, got a promotion at work & my 2 year old son both keep me very busy. Still found time to chop open a few more filters, this time another genuine Toyota made by Denso in Japan off the 4AGE (LH), genuine Toyota ...

Re: NGK Premium RX Spark Plugs Question

Had a look & couldn't find much on them in English but with the help of google chrome translate I was able to read the NGK site. They look impressive, I'd run them if I can find them locally next time I'm up for new plugs. BKR6ERX-11P should be the right ones for the Altezza http://www.ngk-spark...

Re: INFO asap 5000rpm splutter

Probably VVTi then if its not the MAF or coils. You should be able to get an error code out of it if the engine management light has come on.
You find how to access & read them if you search this forum. I'd also search VVTi issues as well, has been covered a few times round here.

The IS200 doesn't have an oil pressure gauge. Only warning light.

Part number for 3SGE Oil Pressure Sender is 83520-60050

Re: Low oil pressure

That doesn't sound normal to me. When mine is cold & on auto choke at idle the oil pressure sits 2-3 from top on the factory gauge. When the engine is warm at idle it sits 2 below halfway. Have you checked the oil level? Could be low. Also what oil filter you using? Stick to genuine or a decent ...
