Re: Need help with head removal(engine in car)

Thanks Celica RA45, I'll drain the oil and see if I find what I hope not to find and go from there.

Re: Need help with head removal(engine in car)

Figured out that the coolant pipe running from water pump to throttle body has a bolt holding it in the back of the head. I forced the issue and going from no give I now have a lot of give, because the pipe is twisting. Hope I didn't break it :( Other than that the head should come off the next time...

Re: Need help with head removal(engine in car)

Thanks again Tosh, got the P/S bracket off today(bolt removal drives me nuts) and most of the head moves now, but the back near the firewall is still stuck, should just be a little more wiggling. Already have a few bolts that I've forgotten where they belong lol. Anyway appreciate your help as alway...

Need help with head removal(engine in car)

Hello, I'm trying to get the head off with the engine in the car. I thought I broke my timing belt when my tezza came to an abrupt halt, but later discovered that the oil pump pulley bolt had stripped, causing the pulley itself to come off, gouging the pump plate and it may have jumped timing so pre...

Re: Low RPM stutter in gear and air fuel ratio question

Hi, not sure what you mean by dry cough, I recently replaced my FPR and fuel filter which solved a hard restart issue, although I left the pump alone. My cranking question is just that, a question, not really an issue, just that I noted that on restarts within anywhere up to 3 hours sometimes(~80%) ...

Re: Low RPM stutter in gear and air fuel ratio question

Thanks again Tosh, do you or anyone else experience what I'm experiencing at low rpm though? Just want to know if it's a quirk of the altezza or something else... Which will prompt me to look further into it since it's quite annoying in traffic.

Low RPM stutter in gear and air fuel ratio question

Hi, '00 RS200 manual, stock ecu, drop in K&N filter, Tanabe exhaust Had my TB issues recently but since they're fixed I'm moving on to other things I noted. I have an issue when I'm in gear near idle RPM, when I give it a little throttle, it will accelerate to maybe 1200 Rpm, then for a split se...

Re: Low idle when warm - MAF and TB cleaned - TPS broken?

After I fixed my TB problem I'm now onto the fuel pump and regulator cuz it's only giving me ~35psi and drops to 0 immediately after I shut it off(causing me grief on warm restart). Pulling the EFI relay also causes it to die instantly. I took out the pump and disassembled it, and found part of the ...

Re: Low idle when warm - MAF and TB cleaned - TPS broken?

Since I've been fiddling with TB issues and TPS lately I guess I'll join in over here lol, though I don't have much to say. Since I swapped my TB for another one, with accessories off, my car idles as low as 650rpm(down from 800 with the old TB) and it vibrates a little, also I can't hear my engine/...

Re: TPS and Throttle body (need help with codes)

Hello again, my issue with the bouncing idle has been solved. I got another used TB and problem solved. However the fellas who insisted on installing it for me because they "knew a thing or two" about RS200 TBs made the car drive funny, just because it idled fine they thought it was all go...

Re: TPS and Throttle body(forget extended cranking for now)

Pulled codes this morning, it's a bit early for christmas:
Need help reading them cuz CEL is flashing kinda randomly, like it doesn't repeat 3 times, it just flashes codes 1 time and moves on. ABS and TRC, airbag flashing as well(not sure about the airbag).

Re: TPS and Throttle body(forget extended cranking for now)

Another update, assembled the TB and airbox back on, TPS set to 0.79v that's the lowest I could get it. Started it, bouncing idle still there, ok, drove it, still losing braking power occasionally. Got on the highway, decided to floor it, and CEL + TRC OFF came on, and it accelerated on its own. I p...

Re: TPS and Throttle body(forget extended cranking for now)

Thanks Tosh, I'm not sure how it works either, but the TB valve is held by 2 springs, you can push the valve close from its "closed" position, and the screw you were talking about I think adjusts how far you can push it by hand, so normally it wouldn't adjust the position of the valve at a...

Re: TPS and Throttle body(forget extended cranking for now)

Ok, been doing some reading and I'm going to check my coolant and top it off next time. Yesterday I dropped a bolt and was looking for it under the car, and I saw a puddle on the passenger/left side. I wasn't sure if it was fluid from the car because it did rain a bit earlier, so perhaps low coolant...

Re: TPS and extended cranking

Ok, removed the throttle body and had a look at the gears, they look good, no sign of wear on the teeth at all....back to square one i guess. Can someone tell me how many hoses are supposed to attach to the TB? I think i removed 3 when taking the TB off,not too sure now, 2 hoses have fluids probably...
