Re: Timing belt breakage HELP

i hate to agree, but id look for a new engine as well. valves can be pricey, and machine work can be pricey too. figure $300 minimum on valves, (replace them all, i know from experience lol) a new timing belt kit with tensioners and idlers $250-300 and since your in there a new waterpump would be a ...

vvti cams other than toda?

im looking for vvti cams other than toda. the todas seem to do well as soiled uses them. im just not happy about the 268 intake duration and 264 exhaust duration. the lift seems like a good candidate for a boosted engine, but i want something that can push the power in the 8500rpm range for top spee...

Re: blacktop beams throttle body conversion kit

bey protok, i envy tour turbo/itb setup. most tuning ive seen is map or ve based making it simple. th reason i said tuning must be a nightmare is wouldnt you have to tune on a 4d map with tps x rpm with an map base as well? also what ems are you using? i would want a single mechanical throttle for e...

I'd stuff mine but I'm going boost, response would be nuts with turbo and itbs but tuning would be a nightmare! How about a single large throttle and manifold combo Glenn?

Re: Turbo

Soiled ran a gt2871 which is pretty much the same size/airflow but the gtx 2867 should spool faster. I think his ran ojt of breath as the engines rev relatively high for stock rpms. I personally would run a t3 flanged housing or step up to a gt3071 for the same dollar and make more power

Re: possible to put auto head on manual block?

Thanks rstomhundred for the reply, although celicara45, glenn, confirmed what i need it for. Boosting is not good for titanium valves high heat leads to brittle parts and the auto head has stainless valves. Im going to have cams hardwelded to match the toda 268/264 vvti operable cams. the lift can m...

possible to put auto head on manual block?

Ok so i have a manual engine and just scored and auto head for dirt cheap from a friend. Building a boosted engine, so steel.valves and stiffer springs from what ive read. Questions, will everything off the manual engine swap over ie intake manifold, exhaust manifold, oil drain tube, water outlets? ...

Re: best cams for 8500rpm

Definitely using e85. I thouhht about dropping to a 3.91 gear or even a 3.73 but concerned about acceleration. I want the vvti to aid with spool. I didnt know the toda cams would continue to make power until 8500. It will be driven on the street a little but not much. Just hoping in the end to keep ...

Re: best cams for 8500rpm

Im set on building this engine to 8500 rpm for a number of reasons. Gear limited top speed is 171mph in 5th. These high speeds are normal for our time attack cars here in the states on the long tracks. This will barely be driven so over building it would be better than doing it twice. And my last an...

best cams for 8500rpm

So decided to give up on building an na engine. The track cars here in the usa are over powered. Im looking to build an 8500 rpm engine. I have found toda 268/264 cams which retain vvti (id like to keep vvti) hks 268/264 (retains vvti) toda cams that disable vvti 280/290/300 and glenns cams which se...

just use a degreaser and water, dont pressure wash or problems will happen. Make sure the degreaser is all surface suitable and wont strip certain surfaces

ways to increase rpm

So talking with an engine builder and thanks to the forum glenn. I want to have a general discussion about increasing rpm limits and what you all have done here to do so. Heres what me and my engine builder talked about. Rotational mass, lighter components means less weight to spin. Increase rod rat...

Re: Engine Knocking! :( Big End Bearing!

Wow im sorry i missed this thread buddy! I watch the video and was amazed out how many people said it was a valvetrain problem! Hope the crank is repairable. Can i point something out about engine noises to help you in the future if this ever happens again? Bottom end noises sound hollow, top end no...

Re: EGT and WINJ

It is not a matter of how much boost can rods take or how much power can i make on pump gas that destroys an engine. It mostly lies with how well it is tuned and a suitable charger for how the power is being made. Yes you can get a system fir individual cylinder tuning, but you pay the price because...

Re: ball bearing or journal bearing

Im thinking that a ball bearing gtx3076 is in order. Im aiming to get ahold of glenn and order his cams and cam gears, as well as his long rods to be able to rev high, as well as valvetrain to suit. (theres a two mile runway event for top speed runs annually in the u.s.a) im going to go with a turbo...
