3sge AE86 limp mode? Diagnostics?

Friend of mine has an Altezza 3SGE in an AE86. Car runs and drives perfect but I think it's in limp mode as it's well down on power.

The only problem is theres no diagnostic socket wired in, is there any other way of running diagnostics on the ECU?

Re: Uprated ECU or not??

Most will have no speed limiters, mine backfired like a tramp when it had no back box and that was standard ECU

Re: Help needed drift car

how many altezzas do you see out there drifting? heck how many altezzas do you see full stop? B In Ireland, you can't leave the house without seeing a Tez and there is always 1 or 2 at drift days. Mark Gaffney has a 2JZ Altezza drift car https://scontent-b-fra.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/103...

Re: Help needed drift car

Well just to add things up quickly It's a drift car so use an IS200 shell because be cheaper got than an Altezza We'll say €600 for a shell 2500 for a standard 2JZ complete 1500 for an R154 box & clutch 400 for good second hand coilovers You're already at 5 grand without putting the engine in. Y...

Re: Help needed drift car

Why would you need a 2JZ for your first drift car? It'll cost you at least 4 grand to get a 2JZ into either car and thats if you do most of the work yourself, never mind building the rest of the car. A standard engined Altezza will slide will enough especially set up right with the right diff aswell...

Re: Help needed drift car

S body is far easier to get all parts for, to be honest they're not comparable at all in that way. Are you planning on just doing practice days or competition?

Is it your first drift car?

Re: Altezza turbo project (Ireland)

Fair play lad some class parts used there! Are you going to map it on the rolling road? I'd be interested to see what it makes, both before and after mapping.

Rough startup & engine light

When I start the Tez, it splutters and will cut out if ya dont rev it. This only happens for about 5 seconds and then it runs perfect but the engine light comes on, any ideas?

Re: Found some ITB's!

There is a Power FC available for Altezzas that can run a MAP sensor.

I'd suspect turbo & ITBs is out of the question for any Power FC though!

Re: my altezza

Seen it on Donedeal a while back, cool car with nice spec! The front bumper & rear lip are optional Toyota items though not TRD.
